I met Roz a few years ago while taking a Yiddish class at Gwen Sector. As soon as she heard my name she said she knew my father. She said nice things about him which was very kind. She was such a bright, kind woman who was fun to be with in a classroom. I'm sorry to hear that she's gone. - Posted by: Miriam Fliegel (Knew my father) on: Nov 21, 2022

I met Roz shortly after I came to Canada. From the beginning she was kind to me and cared very much about. She will always be in my memories and may she Rest In Peace. I wish to offer my condolences to the family🥲 - Posted by: Anna carbone (Friend ) on: Nov 10, 2022

Rose was remarkable in so many ways, her intellect and her compassion but most importantly how her she connected with her family. My sisters and I all agree that Rose was the perfect mother in law. Somehow, having 3 daughter in laws, she was able to navigate those complicated waters, giving support, encouragement, autonomy, and all the while creating an atmosphere of love and connection. She conveyed to all of her grandchildren her appreciation of their unique and special gifts. Now having my own daughter in law and grandchildren, Rose is someone who I wish to emulate. My sincere condolences to Mike and Jean, to Len and Priscilla, to Arnold and Robyn, Jana, Josh, and Aaron, Mika, Beth and Jackie and all the great grandchildren. - Posted by: Margaret Reda (Sister of daughter in law ) on: Nov 07, 2022

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Roz Usiskin but found solace today at her funeral service where her siblings, children and grandchildren reminded us all of the blessing of her life. Over my 40 years in public and political life, Roz was a teacher, mentor and friend always reminding me that unless we challenge the notion that might is right and unless we take on the issues of social injustice, economic inequality and environmental degradation, there is not much point to our struggle at all. I will never forget all those UJPO meetings where Roz was either leading the discussion or asking the important questions. Please accept my deepest condolences and find comfort in knowing Roz lives on in all those people and organizations she inspired to political activism and community advocacy. May her memory be a blessing to you and our whole community. - Posted by: Judy Wasylycia-Leis (Friend) on: Nov 06, 2022

Roz was a generation before me, my parents age. And I got to know her through our collaborative work within our sister societies: UJPO (Roz's), FRC (mine), and the AUUC. She and I worked together at the WBA Children's Camp Husavick - Roz as Director, and I as Assistant Director. I learned from her, and we built memories. Over the ensuing years, we might meet on the street, on the bus, downtown at Eaton's, at a mutual function, dinner or concert - always with a big smile, hearty hello and often a hug. I was taken aback to read Roz's death announcement. My Mother, Roz's contemporary, died one year ago. We are losing our treasured pioneers, one by one. My condolences to Roz's family, who will miss her presence deeply. I know that she will live on in your hearts. ♥️ - Posted by: Linda (Weremiuk) Henderson (Friend) on: Nov 05, 2022
