GAYLE PETROFF
October 8, 1939 - October 28, 2022
On October 28, with her family at her side, Gayle passed away.
She leaves behind her husband Jack, sons Shane (Anne), Jason (Corina), and Craig (Mathy), grandchildren Jane, Owen, and Yohan, sister Laurine, brother Lynn, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters Betty and Donna.
Those who knew her loved her willingness to help others, her good nature, her mad baking skills, and her zest for life. Gayle worked for 21 years at Birks, taught English to newcomers and volunteered as a greeter at the airport. She had an endless catalog of songs in her head, and loved to share stories with others. Gayle was devoted to her family and planned many large gatherings through the years to bring them together. Jane, Owen and Yohan were her pride and JOY.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Concordia and the MAID team who helped her with her final journey. A Celebration of Life will take place November 12 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Fort Garry Community Center (880 Oakenwald Avenue).
In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the Canadian Liver Foundation or Heart & Stroke Canada.

I’m so sorry for your loss Jack, Shane, Jason, Craig and families. Gayle will always hold a special place in my heart as a neighbor and friend to my self and my family. So many good memories being neighbors and the care and love shown to our family. And there was never a dull moment with the laughs whenever Gayle was around. My sympathies are with each and every one of you. Leanne, Tyler, Aiden & Shaye Norberg - Posted by: Leanne Norberg (nee Aspinall), Airdrie, AB (Former neighbour / friend) on: Nov 25, 2022

My heartfelt sympathies to the Petroff family. Gayle was a long-time (over 50 years) neighbour and friend to my family. I will always remember the fun times we had as neighbours on the "bay." So many good memories. - Posted by: Shauna Alander (Aspinall) (former neighbour/friend) on: Nov 16, 2022

My condolences and hugs to all the family who have lost a great lady. She was always funny, kind and supported all school events at Hastings. We (JoAnne, Robbie, Mike, Grant and myself) that the small group go up the driveway bang on the door get Craig and he would get doubled on a bike of someone the block to school. Sporting events were always cheered on by Mrs Petroff and her face in the stands or field was always comforting. She was a lovely lady and I have warm and happy memories of her. My thoughts are with you all and be there for one another it helps sharing and having comfort at this time. I have known Gayle for about 50 years. She was always full of life and funny. I could listen to her stories for hours and actually did. My Mom Betty and I had the privilege of spending several afternoons together with Gayle in the past several months. We would have lunch and share stories that had us all laughing for hours. I know we are going to miss those afternoons with Gayle. She was a light everywhere she went. I miss her already. My heartful condolences to all her family and friends. - Posted by: Karen Ausmus(nee Drummond) (neighbour/friend) on: Nov 07, 2022

I met Gayle recently when she, her brother Lynn (an old friend), and my brother John came over to our home for a rollicking back yard visit. It was such fun! I was amazed at her strength and wit and ability to converse on every topic under the sun. I only wish I had met her sooner. - Posted by: Alison Preston (New friend) on: Nov 05, 2022
