WILLIAM JOHN SAWKA
April 24, 1944- November 2, 2022
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, uncle, and prized guide, to tranquil waters above. Bill has now joined forces with those waiting to set out on vast outdoor gaming expeditions. He has crossed into his happy place.
Bill is survived by wife Sheila, son Michael, daughter Leanne (Brent), grandson Casey (Shay), brothers Earl (Barbara), and Gordon (Julie), sisters Marion (Joe), and Karen (David), brothers-in-law Jeffrey (Marilyn), and Kerry (Linda), sisters-in-law Judi (Richard) and Connie (Al), nephews, nieces and cousins.
Pops began his journey in Piney where he discovered his greatest love, the outdoors, and embracing all its beauty. Bill jetted off to the big city Winnipeg to begin his biggest life adventure of education. He and Sheila settled in Windsor Park where he worked in St. Boniface School Division for 37 years before retiring back into his love of hunting and fishing, to Buffalo Point.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Piney Community Hall, MB-89, Piney, MB R0A 1K0. Wear your favourite sports team jersey, Willy's was the Jays. Interment will take place in spring.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
