ALLAN BRUCE PEDEN

Allan passed away peacefully on November 5, 2022 at home at the age of 91.
He is survived by his son Hugh (Cindy); and daughters, Heather (Gerald) and Audrey (Guy) and grandchildren, Laura, Diana, Thomas, Eric, Allister and William. Allan was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years Irene (Douglas) in 2019 and older siblings, Alice Purvis, Jean Murray, Murray Peden, QC DFC and Bill Peden.
Dad was born on December 12, 1930 in Winnipeg and after starting school in Portage la Prairie, returned and went to Kelvin High. Dad's career was varied but he spent ten years working for the CNR as a Brakeman and Conductor out of Fort Rouge starting in 1950 and later worked 22 years as an Instrument Mechanic at the Abitibi-Price newsprint mill in Pine Falls, retiring in 1988.
From an early age, Dad's life was filled with adventure and danger. He loved to hunt, fish, boat, travel and talk politics, but his great life-long passion was photography. His photos documented his life's journey and are enjoyed by many online now.
We'd like to thank Al's home care team, Carole, Sara, Alex, Celina, Christa, Gift, Heather, Aurora, Heidi and Kubrom and especially our sister Audrey, who helped Dad stay in the comforts of his apartment right until the end.
A funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. and will be livestreamed at the following link:

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Al was a lifelong friend of my brother Bob. Al always had a smile on his face and sparkle in his eye looking for the humorous side of events. He was fun loving and hard working….his life story would make an enjoyable read. We admired and respected Al, his was an interesting life lived to the fullest. I know my brother will miss his friendship as will we. Charlotte and I send our condolences to the Peden family! Rest In Peace, Al. - Posted by: John Rendall (Friend) on: Nov 12, 2022

  • On this day in 2004 I was reminiscing about my father, Harvey Ramsay. My dad passed away when I was in my teens and didn’t know very much about his past. I googled his name and was surprised it appeared under a book written by your uncle Bill (or could have been your dad). I found the courage to call him and relayed my story. Your dad worked with my dad on the CNR and he provided me some insight on him. - Posted by: Bobbie White (CNR Connection) on: Nov 11, 2022

  • It was my honour and pleasure to care for Al and I will miss his sense of humour and gentle spirit. Rest peacefully sweet Al! ♥️ - Posted by: Heather Nielsen (Caregiver) on: Nov 10, 2022
