Date of Passing: Nov 01, 2022
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALDCROFT: William "Kirk". It is with deep sadness that the family announces Kirk's passing on November 1st, 2022. Kirk was born in Edmonton, Alberta on September 23rd, 1951 to parents Glen and Joyce Aldcroft. He was soon joined by siblings Scott, Lea and Jan. Kirk grew up and attended school in Edmonton. He took part in Cubs and Scouts, played basketball and was involved in school politics. Kirk began his work career in Edmonton while he was still in high school, working as a night auditor in hotels. He continued this work in Calgary and then B.C. He was working at CIBC in Campbell River, BC when he met the love of his life, Bonnie Barnes. Kirk and Bonnie were married in December 1974 and moved several times with the bank. Eventually they returned to Manitoba where Bonnie was born and raised. Kirk worked at Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon Mental Health Centre and also owned, drove and employed others to operate his own taxis for a local company. Kirk was involved with parent council, Brandon Blue Fins, Cubs, Vincent Massey Band and collecting for many charities, including Heart and Stroke. Kirk was also a lifelong supporter of the Canadian Blood Services, receiving recognition and awards for his dedication and contributions. Kirk loved to read and had knowledge about many things. He loved jazz and blues music as well as the oldies from the 50's and 60's. Most of all though, he loved his family, and was so proud of each and every one of them. Kirk is survived by his loving wife Bonnie, son Craig (Kelly) and grandchildren Jackson, Nixon and Ty, son Drew (Cheryl) and grandchildren Ella and Sadie, daughter Meaghan (Peat) and grandchildren Miquel, Mia and Jalen, and son Dean (Jill). He is also survived by his sister Lea Morales and her family, sister Jan LaPointe and husband Mike, and brother-in-law Andy Barnes (Adele) and their family. He was predeceased by grandson Cade Aldcroft, brother Scott Aldcroft, parents Glen and Joyce Aldcroft, paternal grandparents Bill and Hilda Aldcroft, maternal grandparents Fern and Jim Ellis and Frederick Wallace, parents-in-law Mary and Joe Barnes. At Kirk's request, an informal celebration of his life will be held with family and friends on November 17th, 2022. If you wish to join us to honour Kirk at this come and go gathering, please reach out to a family member for more information. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Heart and Stroke.

So sad to learn of Kirk's passing. He was, as described in the obituary, interested in many things and very knowledgeable on a wide variety of topics. I truly enjoyed times that we chatted at length at swim meets and toured bookstores and other venues in which we shared an interest. I will miss him. Condolences to Bonnie and family. Thinking of you as you work through this loss. Ron Richert (and sons) - Posted by: Ronald Richert (Friend) on: Nov 15, 2022
