ROBERT K. J. DOWHANIK
April 17, 1963 - November 4, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert Dowhanik whom went peacefully with family by his side.
Bob's humble beginnings began in the area of Kindersley, Saskatchewan where he was born and raised. He is predeceased by his parents', his father John in 1992 and mother, Pauline in 2017. He moved to Dauphin in 1972 and worked for CN Rail for many years. Then he moved to Winnipeg and began his life long career in the carpentry trades and being self-employed as a General Contractor. He would always say "I Love my Job"! His work ethic and spirit showed how dedicated and true he was as a person in his work and his family. These traits are seen in both Tyler and Jessika. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, son Tyler and daughter Jessika (Connor) and his love of his life Brenda of 33 years. His brothers Steve (Allison) and Paul (Monica), sisters Lee Ann, Shelley and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob worked hard and took pride in all he did. He had a love of nature and spent much time hunting, fishing and camping. He was devoted to his faith and was a Knight of Columbus for almost 20 years.
Special thanks to the staff of St. Boniface Asper Cardiology CR5 (ICU) and CR4. Their care and devotion over the past 9 months strengthened his incredible will to live. He will be deeply missed and forever live in our hearts with the love, support and guidance he offered us over the years.
In accordance to his wishes; cremation has taken place with no formal service.

I just today found out the very sad news that my dear friend Bob has passed. We kind of lost touch in our adult years but for a few visits here and there. Bob was my close friend in high school and for a few years when I lived in Winnipeg. He was also my ski buddy. Yep....Bob loved skiing. One particular memory was of when he launched off a huge jump at Agassiz (back around 1983). Neither of us had any real ski skills, so we would basically just point our skis straight down the hill and go for it. Oh boy....the air time Bob got off that jump was off the charts. Upon landing, it was a yard sale. I mean, both skis, goggles, poles, strewn everywhere! We both had a good laugh there and then. I'm amazed he wasn't hurt. But that's youth, right?! You can do those things and not get hurt. I also remember Bob coming to my rescue when my car got hung up on a boulevard after a particularly heavy rain. Got me towed out in minutes. We loved to play snooker, too. He always beat me. Remember his RX7? He let me drive it. Fun times. We always had lots to laugh about. Sending my deepest condolences to all those he touched and graced in his time here with us. Bob was a good one. - Posted by: Wes Pisiak (close friend from school days) on: Feb 01, 2023

We knew each other for a long time and had lots of memorable moments. We always had fun when we went out, too much fun !. He was a hero in may ways to his family and while Moose hunting when he saved someones life. He was a exreamly hard worker, i had mentioned more than once you need to sleep & rest more. One day at my place we sat in the living room trying to figure out how to bring in a sheet of drywall into my bathroom after about 45 min.I said hey all we have to do is score the dry wall hahahahaha it was a funny moment because bob did house renovations. I phoned him when he went into the hospital he told me what happened i was in stunned. We spoke here and there, i wanted to visit but couldn't. I also spoke to him the evening he left, when the nurse handed him the phone he said who in the hell is Clayton, he then remembered, we spoke, he told me what the Dr said, he then said i need to phone Brenda he said that 2 times, i said ok we'll talk soon take it easy. I can't believe he left. He left behind a wonderful wife and children his dogs. Bob lives on and always will. i enjoyed the time we had together. - Posted by: Clayton Weselowski (friend) on: Nov 19, 2022

Dear Brenda, Tyler and Jessika, My deepest condolences on the loss of Bob. I only met him a couple of times personally, but I have heard lots of stories through Derek...about Bob's super work ethic, how he loved hunting (and practicing his moose call haha), fishing and camping, and living outside of the city. How he took such pride in his family and home . I will always greatly appreciate Bob taking Derek under his wing and teaching him his trade...the RIGHT way! I am so sorry for your loss...Bob will live on in our hearts forever. Karen Abs - Posted by: Karen Abs (Friend) on: Nov 14, 2022

Brenda, Tyler and Jessika - so sorry for your loss. My heartfelt sympathies. We have such great memories of being neighbors (and friends) when you lived on Oakleigh. Bob was such a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor and great love for his family. He was always willing to help a neighbor out. We are saddened for your loss, Brenda and all of Bob’s family. He was such a caring man – my mom always thought of Bob as someone very special. There was always so much pride when Bob spoke of Tyler and Jessica, a true dad. As I’ve kept Bob in my prayers, I will also pray for your comfort🙏 Cousin Rosanne and Harold - Posted by: Rosanna and Harold Bilokreli (Cousin) on: Nov 12, 2022
