It is with much love and sadness that the family of Eileen Konopetski announce her peaceful passing at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 95 years.
Eileen was the eldest, and the last, of the 5 Fisher Branch Konopetski's. She was predeceased by her mother Doris and father John, her siblings Joyce, Frank, John, and Ed, her sisters-in-law Augustine and Emily, her niece Glenda Bishop, and her great nephew Justin St. Hilaire.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law Trudy Konopetski (John), nieces Pat (Rob) St. Hilaire, Connie (Darrell) Humeniuk, and Lori Konopetski, and nephews Doug Andresen and Jim Konopetski (partner Susan O'Quinn), and their families.
Eileen left Fisher Branch to go to work in Winnipeg at the tender age of 16. She worked at Eaton's and then in food services where she made many life-long friends at the CN Train Station, the Manitoba Club, the Charterhouse Rib Room, and Ronette's Catering. She later spent her time volunteering, bringing joy to people at Lion's Manor and the Mission House.
Eileen loved music (especially jazz), dancing, and being with friends and family. She took pleasure in making people laugh, always having a joke or funny story on hand to share. She was a simple, positive, person who looked to the good in people and had friends from all walks of life and cultures. She was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank the staff of Catherine Place Assisted Living and the Victoria General Hospital 4 South for their kindness and care during her stay.

A private service will be held in Fisher Branch at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Siloam Mission in Eileen's memory.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My deepest condolences on the passing of your Aunt Eileen. Remember times when she used to come to Fisher Branch and then to Stonewall at Connie’s. She never slowed down and was the life of the party. May she Rest In Peace. Linda Trachuk (Lovey Kuryk’s daughter) - Posted by: Linda Trachuk (Friend) on: Nov 15, 2022

  • Eileen was a very committed volunteer for our Adult Day Club at Lions Place, and through this relationship, we became dear friends. She had a heart of gold for everyone she met and sassy-ness with a side of humour to boot! She will be so missed by those who had the privilege of having her as a friend. - Posted by: Christine (Friend) on: Nov 12, 2022

  • Eileen was my star volunteer at Lions Place. I could always count on her to lend a hand. Kind, funny, boy did we laugh; and she was a such a hard worker. We had so much fun together. My sincere condolences to the family and everyone who knew Eileen. She will truly be missed. - Posted by: Nancy (Friend) on: Nov 12, 2022
