HILDEGARD GOWLER
(nee RUDY)
July 6, 1930 November 4, 2022
With her children at her side, Hilda peacefully passed away at the age of 92 years.
Hilda will be missed dearly by her son Randy Gowler (Darlene); daughter Darcy Truthwaite (Brian); granddaughter Jessica Meisner (Cole); sister Vera Wilson (Fred); in-laws, Marg and Ken Gowler, Merna and Casy Gowler and many nieces, nephews and family friends.
Hilda was predeceased by her loving husband Albert Gowler in 1996; her parents, Jenny and Jacob Rudy; brother and sister-in-law Edgar and Arlene Rudy; in-laws Emily and Allen Gowler, nephews Terry Rudy and Mitch Gowler and niece Michelle Killam.
Mom was born in Winnipeg and when she was 12 years old her family moved to a small farm west of Poplar Point. It was here that she met the love of her life Albert Gowler. Mom worked at the Poplar Point grocery store until she married and moved to Winnipeg. Dad was hired as a police officer in Winnipeg and mom worked at Safeway and later went to work as a real estate agent for Fargo Realty. They retired, enjoying winters in Texas and summers in the White Shell.
During mom's early years, she enjoyed entertaining family and friends, sun bathing, gardening and spoiling babies and children. She enjoyed playing cards, croquet and bocce ball. At the age of 92, mom still enjoyed going out for meals and she always loved a good laugh. She was a talented knitter. She knitted beautiful baby sweaters that zipped up in the back. A gift for anyone who was having a baby. At 92 mom still spoke about getting a tan. We'll miss you mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held this spring with the date to be announced. Our family wishes to express a sincere thanks to all of the staff at the Fisher Personal Care Home and Percy E. Moore Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mood Disorder Association of Manitoba or charity of your choice.

Albert Gowlerโs wife, Hilda, a sweet lady who could cook up a storm. Mike Starosilec and I met Albert at their cottage in the White Shell during an early fall day in the thrilling days of yesteryear and we did some pickerel (or as the Yanks would call walleye) fishing and then Albert had us return for lunch at the cabin. There we met Hilda who had laid on a pure banquet of food for us.. huge platter of pork chops, mountain of mashed potatoes, thick and rich gravy, lots of cooked vegetables from their garden, home made bread and apple pie. An unexpected and delicious meal for two cops who worked with Albert and came for a visit and to try their luck at fishing. Mike and I would often talk about that day and how Albert was blessed with Hilda as a wife and mother to their family. You know, there are always memories that are unforgettable and that one has been a keeper for me. I canโt remember much about the fishing, but I sure get flashbacks about that lunch. To the family of Hilda and Albert, know they loved and were proud of you all. Dick Hickling - Posted by: Dick Hickling (colleague nd friend) on: Nov 12, 2022

Our deepest condolences to Darcie and Randy in your loss. Hilda was such a fun loving person and always a hoot to be around. I can only imagine the fun her and mom are having now! Having our parents together again is funny to think of. Your mom was such a sweet and helpful person and what she did for our mom will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace dear Hilda, we love you and will never forget you ๐๐๐๐๐ - Posted by: Dawn and Lawrence Rotinsky (Family friends) on: Nov 12, 2022
