CARMELA (MELINA) ACQUISTO
(nee BULLARO)

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Carmela Acquisto on November 13, 2022, at the age of 88.
Carmela will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Francesco Acquisto; children, Michael (Emira), Silvana (Tony), Robert (Lori), Frank (Cristina) and Jerry (Domenika); grandchildren, Adam, Justin (Meagan), Daniela (Steven), Amanda (Barrett), Michael (Alexandra), Riley (TJ), Quinn, Austin, Marco, and Alina; great-grandchildren, Noah, Mark, and Lana; and sister-in-law Beatrice Bullaro. Also, many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Rosario and Francesca Bullaro, sister Maddalena Bongiorno (Carmelo) and brother Francesco Bullaro.
Carmela was born in Casteltermini, Sicily on February 10, 1934. On February 9, 1957, she married Francesco. On November 10, 1959, together they boarded the Vulcania and embarked on a trip that would bring them to Canada. They settled in Winnipeg and worked hard to adjust to life in their new country and raise a large family. Mom worked as a seamstress, but her priority was her family. She was a meticulous homemaker and enjoyed cooking. Her favourite days were when her kids would 'stop in' for lunch. She would be sure to prepare our favourite dishes and make the house smell so good. Mom had a great sense of humour, a quick wit, and loved to make people laugh. She enjoyed getting dressed up and was her best while socializing with friends.
Carmela will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband and family. We love you mom. May you rest in peace.
A mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue at 11:00 am on November 17, 2022. A brief visitation period will commence at 10:30am. Entombment will follow at Holy Angel Mausoleum at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Hwy #1 East, at Navin Road.
The family would like to thank the staff at Calvary Place Personal Care Home for their dedicated care and compassion towards Carmela.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a registered charity of your choice.
