TERRY MCGURK

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry McGurk, surrounded by his family, on Monday, November 14, 2022.
Terry leaves behind his loving family: wife Jean, children Kathleen (Michael), David (Marla), Shawn (Melanie), grandchildren Alexis (Blake), Amy (Cory), Everett (Megan), Hayden, Evan, Janell, great- grandchild Leo, and Michael's children, Joshua (Dena), Zachary and Samantha (Sean). Terry will also be missed by his sister-in-law Marilyn, nephew Shane, brother-in-law John (Lois), and nephew Kyle. Terry was predeceased by his parents, George and Elsie, brother Brian, nephew Brett and sister-in-law Cathy.
Terry worked as a journeyman and manager with Manitoba Telephone System until his retirement in 1996. He was also a well-known drummer in the local music industry and started playing in bands when he was 14 years old. He was a member of the Tor-Kays, Wishbone, Glyder, and Shoom.
After his retirement, Terry enjoyed many happy years at his lake homes in Clear Lake, Gimli and Winnipeg Beach. He and Jean loved their lake time, as well as spending their winters in Florida. Terry was also an avid sports and theatre fan, enjoying his season tickets with the Blue Bombers, Winnipeg Jets and the Manitoba Theatre Centre.
Terry's pride and joy was his family. He met the love of his life, Jean when they were just 14 years old, and they married at the tender age of 18. They raised their family in Winnipeg and were so thankful that their grown children stayed close to home. Terry was never too busy to help with jobs, big or small, around his kids' homes. He could build a house himself from the ground up, and could also change a diaper blind-folded with one hand! His expertise and guidance will definitely be missed.
Terry's friends and family would all agree that he was the kindest, sweetest, most generous and compassionate man they had the pleasure of knowing. He was taken from us far too soon, and we are heartbroken to have lost him.
At Terry's request, there will be no formal funeral service. A very large, loud PARTY will be held with family and close friends this summer, to celebrate the life of this wonderful, loving man.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Ronald McDonald House, or a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
