BRENDA MAUREEN DAHL
August 22, 1954 November 9, 2022
On November 9, 2022 our beloved Brenda won the fight of her life.
In the loving arms of her entire family she passed on to the greater comfort of God and the peace of eternity.
Brenda was loved by everyone. Her sudden passing has shocked and shattered all who knew her. On September 7 of this year Brenda was given an unexpected, catastrophic diagnosis of incurable cancer.
From the very beginning she faced this with incredible grace and bravery. Her absolutely positive attitude NEVER wavered.
She was a guiding light to all of us that accompanied her on this final journey. She taught us all so much. Her sense of humour and joy of life were never touched by the illness she faced. She inspired all those around her including many of the wonderful medical professionals who did their absolute best.
With her eyes wide open - being fully aware of her dire situation she said:
"Something good will come of this"
Our beautiful guiding light is now waiting for us on the other side.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Gary and her three children, Allison (Mike), John (Amy) and Rowan (Catherine); as well as by her six grandchildren, Logan, Kate, Max, Levi, Nash and Harris.
A celebration of Brenda's wonderful life will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Norwood Community Centre, 87 Walmer Street, Winnipeg, MB.

Forty nine years ago was the start of one of those friendships that remained strong despite the years and later the distance – that was only one of the privileges of Brenda’s friendship. Brenda’s smile, sense of humor and adventure will continue to warm our thoughts, feed our souls and inspire all who knew her. Gary, Allison, John, Rowan and family – we love you all and it is comforting knowing that Brenda lives in each of you. - Posted by: Grant and Cheryl Burton (Friends) on: Dec 22, 2022

My sincere condolences to Gary and his family. I was saddened to hear about Brenda’s passing and I am so sorry that it was not possible for me to attend her celebration of life. I met Brenda and Gary as a young adult and shared many dinners with them when we were young married couples. We also enjoyed weekends together sailing Hobie Cats and waterskiing at Seba Beach. I will always remember Brenda’s beautiful smile, her laughter, her positive attitude towards life, and her adoring love for Gary and their children. - Posted by: Catherine Maetche (Friend) on: Dec 08, 2022

My condolences to Gary and your family on the loss of a beautiful person. Brenda was a close friend during the formative teenage years into young adulthood. We celebrated many milestones together from the trials and tribulations of high school, graduations, weddings and births of our first children. While distance, time and just life caused us to grow apart her outlook on life and inner beauty remain with me today. She is missed. Gary, my heart goes out to you and your family. When my son, Rob, forwarded me the post letting me know about Brenda and her Celebration of Life, the news devastated me. I instantly went back to the last time our paths crossed. It was a few years ago now, but I was in town and gave you a call. You and Brenda instantly opened your home to me and we had a great evening. It harkened back to the great times we had when we first met decades ago when you both opened up your home to a stranger that needed a temporary place to stay. Being around you two was such a blast. I have nothing but fond memories of both my stay and the times we got together after when I was still in Winnipeg. And man, could Brenda cook! But what I remember most is Brenda’s smile and the way she approached life with both a smile and a laugh that instantly warmed the heart of anyone who had the honor of being within her radius. There is now a hole in the fabric of life of everyone who had the privilege of crossing her path. I very much wanted to travel to Winnipeg to be a part of Brenda’s Celebration of Life, but a temporary medical condition has not allowed me to travel. My heart, Gary, is with you and your family. Take care, my friend. I am thinking of you. - Posted by: David Johnson (Friend) on: Nov 22, 2022

Our deepest condolences go out to Gary, Allison, Rowan, John, Scott, Russ, and families for your loss. Brenda was a very special lady and will be missed by many. We were to visit in spring of 2020 when the lock down thwarted our plans. Our missed visit hurts even more now. Please accept our sincere condolences. You are all in our hearts and prayers.
