NORMA ELIZABETH SEYMOUR

Peacefully on November 17, 2022, Norma passed away at the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home at the age of 104 years.
Mom was born on May 17, 1918 at Young, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm. She married Ron Seymour on Valentine's Day 1942 - they were married for 45 years until Dad's passing in 1987. She loved travel which she did extensively with their travel agency, playing bridge, watching curling and football (the Roughriders), her flowers, and her family and friends.
Mom leaves to mourn her sons Gary (Margaret), Don (Hilary), her daughter Gene (Doug), grandchildren Lori (Kim), Larissa (John), Garth, Breanne (Andrew), Andrew and Austin and six great-grandchildren.
Many thanks to the amazing staff at Tuxedo Villa, who cared for Mom with patience and thoughtfulness during her nine years there.
As Mom requested, cremation has taken place and no service will be held at this time.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Norma and Ron were great friends to my parents, Phyl and Frank, having known each other from Saskatoon days. Their mutual interest and passion for the Roughriders, and bridge, made for frequent get-togethers over the years. The Seymours reinforced my passion for travel, and they often had us over to see their travel slides. They helped make travel arrangements for my husband and I to go on our first big trip, to Europe, in 1976. Norma and Ron were a lot of fun as a couple, and each couple thought so much of each other. Once the men had passed on, Norma and Phyl continued their friendship until my mom’s passing in 2016. Peace and prayers be with you all. - Posted by: Lynn Simpson (Family friend) on: Dec 06, 2022

  • Norma and my mother Helen met when they were pregnant with Gene and I, so I have always thought of her as my "other mother". So many fond memories of her: our frequent sleepovers when she would put her foot down on our undercover giggling "I have spoken!" The weekly visits to the figure skating club; our two mothers watching us go round and round with never a hope of stardom, but they sewed us the most fabulous costumes: Sputniks, Tigers and Beautiful Dolls. Later as a teenager as a guest at their Jackfish Lake cabin, (one of the best summers of my life), "Hmmph" she would say to our cheeky behaviour as we danced polkas to the old 78 turntable. I can taste the Swedish meatballs still. My mother too, lived to be an octogenarian, aged 103. Us late in life babies must have kept them young in spirit. Norma was a stunningly beautiful woman, a powerful force and a lasting influence on my life. Despite my not seeing Norma for decades, my heart is broken. Sending so much love to my dear friend Gene and all the family. - Posted by: Diane Young (longtime friend, other daughter) on: Dec 04, 2022

  • I was so very sorry to hear of Norma's passing. She was a dear friend and neighbour of my mother, Dorothy Cleugh. I had the pleasure of playing bridge with Norma; she was an excellent player. Norma was a lovely lady with a great sense of humour and was adored by many. Please accept my sincere condolences. - Posted by: JOAN JARVIE (Friend) on: Nov 22, 2022

  • I am very sorry to hear of Norma's passing. I got acquainted with her as she was my mother's roommate at Tuxedo Villa. I also got to visit with her daughter and son-in-law. I will miss saying hello to her every time I visited. - Posted by: Arlene Macklem (Friend) on: Nov 22, 2022

  • Gene, Doug and family. So sorry for your loss. I remember always visiting with you and Norma at the villa. She always had a awesome smile and always wanted her nails done. Take care of yourself.
