JAMES ANDREW EDMONDS
May 15, 1942 - November 16, 2022
It is with heavy and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Jim after a short battle with cancer at the age of 80 years.
Jim was predeceased by his wife Melvina; brother Wayne (Madeline), and parents, Curt and Betty Edmonds.
Surviving Jim is his son Jim (Fiona); granddaughters, Jessie and Niki; brother Rick (Rhonda); sisters-in-law, Marlene, Marilyn (David); brother-in-law Melvin (Brenda); mother-in law Doris Adams, and many nieces and nephews, and special friend and partner Marilyn Morrison.
The Edmonds family resided in West Kildonan area making many lifelong friendships.
Jim and Mel spent many years in Burnaby, BC, where they both had thriving careers. They retired in early 2000s and moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to family and friends, leaving many wonderful friends in BC.
Jim spent many years living at the Country Villas in Bird's Hill where he made many great friends and was very active in the community.
Jim was an avid sports fan, loved watching almost any kind of sports on TV. He was actively still golfing three times a week and marshalling two times a week at Larters Golf Club, enjoying his time with friends, especially John, Jack, Larry and many more.
In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball, curling and spending time at Grand Beach with friends (lots of great stories from those days).
Throughout his years Jim achieved five holes in ones, very proud moments for him.
He enjoyed spending Saturday afternoons at West Kildonan Legion Branch #30 with his friends hoping to win at the meat draw.
A special thank you to Marilyn Morrison for all the love she gave the past four years, visiting him each day at the hospital.
Thank you to all the friends that took the time out to visit Jim in the Hospital or took time to call to find out an update.
Thank you to all who assisted with rides to and from the hospital, it was greatly appreciated.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sen and Dr. Kerr and all the staff at CancerCare, staff on 4S at St. Boniface hospital, staff at GH5 at Health Sciences Centre.
As per Jim's wishes no formal service will be held and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
Donations may be made to CancerCare, Humane Society or Charity of your choice.

Our deepest sympathies to the family. May perpetual Light shine upon his soul and may he rest in peace. - Posted by: Gaston and Joanne (Friends ) on: Nov 27, 2022
As another of the Larters golf community , I echo the comments of others to say that I will miss Jim’s friendly and welcoming presence on the golf course. One Thursday evening I came to my last hole of the game and realized that I had hit my drive to the right of the sandtrap on hole number 10 with the last ball in my bag. I thought that I might not find the ball as it was getting late. Jim was nearby , in his cart, so I asked him if he might have a golf ball that I could “borrow” in case I didn’t find mine, allowing me to finish the hole and finish my game that evening. He saved the day for me as he handed me a shiny new looking Titelist from his marshall’s supply of golfballs. I will always think of this story when I remember Jim. I hope there is a good golf course in heaven and we will all look to see you there Jim. - Posted by: Catherine Lee (Friend) on: Nov 25, 2022
We have very nice memories of our time we spent in Texas --- many happy hours and lots of golf. Your smiling face will be missed by all who knew you. - Posted by: Kip & Maryanne Frater (Friends) on: Nov 21, 2022

We both moved back to Manitoba the same year, although we lived in the country we still got together . - Posted by: Ron & Irene Schaan (Friends) on: Nov 20, 2022
I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Jim Family. I worked with Mel and have known Jim and Mel since 1980 and have remained close friends even after they moved back to Edmonds. I have great memories that I will for ever cherish. - Posted by: Lina Filancia (Friend) on: Nov 20, 2022
So very hard to hear of his passing. He was very good to all of us lady golfers at Larters. - Posted by: Karen Kearney (Golfer at Larters ) on: Nov 19, 2022
I would like to send my condolences to Jim’s family. I met Jim thru his golfing/marshalling at Larters. As a member of the grounds crew, I had many opportunities to chat with Jim out on the course. He was always inquisitive and respectful of the work we did, which was always appreciated. We also had many conversations about golf, curling, and any other topic of the day, which I’ll really miss. Again, my condolences. Rest In Peace Jim. - Posted by: Ed Oehlers (Co-worker) on: Nov 19, 2022

Brenda and I would like to send Condolences to Jim’s family as well as Marilyn’s family on the passing of Jim. Jim’s whit was second to none. I enjoyed discussing his second job at Larters which was ball collecting. I enjoyed Jim’s company in AZ for a week of golf and happy he was finally able to go last year. Also our get together at my place for a BBQ after Fall Golf at Teulon. Rest In Peace Buddy. See you on the Flip Side - Posted by: Alan Freedman (Friend) on: Nov 19, 2022
Shirley & I met Jim through his golfing & marshalling at Larters. We became good friends when he joined the "Ole Boys" group and became a regular player during the summer golf season and a weekly attendee at the winter breakfasts. It was only last December that he traveled with Butch and I for a week of golfing in Phoenix, staying at Alan's winter home. Even with the complications to travel created by Covid, we had a great time and I have fond memories of the trip. It was during the after golfing sessions in the hot tub, that I learned of Jim's impressive five (5) hole-in-ones. I am still waiting for my first! We all will miss him on the links, but will always remember him as we celebrate birdies with a traditional shot of "birdie juice" . We are sure Marilyn will miss Jim's companionship, but she can be comforted knowing she played a major part in Jim's happiness the last few years. Rest in peace old friend, and we will see you on the links in heaven. - Posted by: Clare & Shirley Moster (Golfing friends via Larters) on: Nov 19, 2022

Our heartfelt condolences go out to family and friends. Although we only knew Jim for 6 years he made us feel at home and was one of the first to greet us in the neighbourhood. His presence will be missed. Rest In Peace Jim.💐 - Posted by: Claude and Jaye Beaudry (Neighbours) on: Nov 19, 2022
