BRENDA MARGARET TARRANT

Early in the morning of November 18, 2022, Brenda Tarrant of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away at 81 from complications arising from Alzheimer's Disease.
Our Mother was born to Clifford and Margaret Fisher in 1940 in Ottawa, Ontario. She grew up with siblings Shirley Gilmore, Harold Fisher and Bryan Fisher (deceased). Brenda graduated from Fisher Park High School and married the love of her life, Captain John Tarrant (deceased), of Botwood, NL. They were married on May 6, 1961 at St. Margaret Mary Church in Ottawa. Together they raised four boys: Douglas, Mark, Kelly, and Thomas. Brenda was the beloved mother-in-law to Michelle, Jennifer, and Kathy.
Once settled in Winnipeg, Mom was very active at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, where she loved being a Eucharistic Minister regularly, and always dressed to the nines. After our Dad died, Mom began to work at Oakview Care Home and continued for many years in their service. Mom decided to leave Oakview Place because there were grandchildren to spoil: Gabrielle, Katrina, Ava, Eric, Rachel, and Christine. She could make people laugh and her sense of humour was contagious; we will always remember that.

I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith.
The Second Letter of
St. Paul to Timothy 4. 6-8

  • Father Mark, Mothers are special. Reading your mother’s obituary it was evident that you were influenced by her warmth, kindness, and decency. I recall you referencing her occasionally in your homilies. It was evident that she had a special place in your heart for her replete with joy, laughter, and kindness. Please accept my sympathies in this very difficult time, but do celebrate the special times with her and a life well lived!
