WOLFGANG SIRIUS
SCHROEDTER MANZANILLA

Wolfgang Sirius Schroedter Manzanilla was born at 1:07 a.m. on a Sunday morning, November 20, 2022 after a gentle and surprisingly quick labour. He defied the odds and courageously entered the world full term, at 39 weeks and 4 days, weighing 5 pounds 4 ounces and measuring 17 inches long. A true fighter, he was determined to meet his parents and experience life as pure love outside his mom even if for a short while.
Baby Wolfgang was surrounded by love every moment of his life, in the womb and the 33 minutes he shared with us on the outside. Even though his time with us was far too brief, our son was loved fiercely and impacted so many lives.
Wolfie is deeply missed by his devoted and brave mother and father, Johsa Manzanilla and Christian Schroedter; his grandparents, Lolo Jhun and Lola Julie Manzanilla, and Opa Ingo Schroedter and Baba Iris Perchaluk; his Auntie Artemis Schroedter (Pat Neufeld); his great-grandmothers, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many others.
The family especially thanks the following: Dr. Crow; our wonderful doulas, Meghan and Jennifer; the neonatology, fetal assessment, neurosurgery, and labour, delivery and post-partum teams at Health Sciences Centre Women's Hospital; Dr. Martin and Simone from palliative care; and Dr. Park, for getting us through the most challenging moment of our lives.

"Your pain is the breaking of the shell
that encloses your understanding ...
And could you keep your heart in
wonder at the daily miracles of
your life, your pain would not seem
less wonderous than your joy."

- Kahlil Gibran

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I wish you and your husband the deepest sympathies and love. The journey to motherhood begins at conception and we never truly know how long we get to have our children in our lives, so each moment with them is a gift. Your son knew true love and felt your strength as a mother grow the whole time he was with you. As you navigate this journey together as mom and dad, always know that while we never can never understand why we are asked to shoulder this burden of grief, do know that we are given it because I think God knows weare strong enough to make it through the other side. My heart breaks for you both as it no parent should ever bury their babies. Sending you both strength and love as you grow together as parents to an angel.
