GERMAINE NORMAND (LAFANTAISIE)
Date of Passing: Nov 22, 2022Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved and cherished Germaine Normand on November 22, 2022, at the age of 85.
Germaine is preceded in death by her husband Honoré and son Patrick. She is lovingly remembered by her two children Gérald (Barbara) and Ginette and her daughter-in-law Connie (Patrick). Her prized grandchildren Dani (Chris), Matthieu, Kayla, Karol-Ann, Cierra, Savanna, as well as several great grandchildren.
Mom will always be remembered for her high energy and "joie de vivre" (love of life). She also had a competitive streak which clearly showed during epic Scrabble or Bananagram games.
She loved to prepare and serve different foods including pickled beets, butter tarts, yummy homemade strawberry jam and tourtières; as well as gifting many people gorgeous quilts that she created with loving care.
Mom enjoyed traveling, visiting different locations in North America. While the main objective was to visit her children and grandchildren, she also had the opportunity to marvel at the Grand Canyon, the Western Rockies and even go ice-fishing. Alas, despite a couple of trips to Las Vegas, she regretfully was unable to meet her teen idol Elvis Presley.
Many more recollections will be shared at a celebration Mass in memory of Germaine on Friday December 2, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Eugene Parish located at 1009 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
If you have been blessed by receiving one of Germaine's "Made out of Love" quilts, please consider bringing it so you can be wrapped in her comfort.
The family would like to sincerely thank everyone for all their prayers, as well as all the medical personnel that gave her such special and attentive care.
Donations in memory of Germaine may be made to support outreach programs to Guatemalan indigenous youth directed by her son and his wife.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)
Such a sweetheart Mme. Normand. Neighbors back in the day on Enfield. So kind, joyful, friendliest neighbor one could ever ask for. Mom loved her. She will definitely be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. - Posted by: Gisele ( Lambert) Forest (Old neighbor and friend ) on: Dec 01, 2022
To Ginette and Gerry and extended family. My deepest condolences to you all. I'll always remember matantes laugh and how she was always excited to see us when we visited as a family. She taught me how to play crib when I was very young and was always laughing and having fun. Although I haven't seen matante in a very long time, she will be missed. May she rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers go out to my all the family. - Posted by: Paul Labossiere (Nephew) on: Nov 29, 2022

Many times I went to Normand's after school on Enfield. Mme Normand always had a nice supper for me while Gerry and I waited for volleyball practice, and so many other good memories. - Posted by: Henri Savard (friend) on: Nov 26, 2022
