GLENN F. GIBSON
1947 - 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Glenn Fraser Gibson announces his passing on November 24, 2022.
Glenn is survived by his three sons Devon (Melissa), Beaudean and Daniel (Laurin) Sweeney and grandsons Noah, Coen and Michael. Glenn was predeceased by his mother Joyce Gibson, who raised him. Survived by his sister Brenda, brothers Roy (Penny), Lorne and Cameron (Kim). Glenn loved his sons and was elated when his grandsons entered his life. He could always be found doting over his two dogs Marley and Maisie.
He travelled the globe from Kabul to London. Glenn settled on Campbell Street and was proud to be a third generation single parent. Often called 'The Best Mom in River Heights', he volunteered tirelessly: leading Beavers and Cubs, acting as coach and manager for soccer and hockey at every level, always willing to help at Robert H. Smith and flooding the Campbell backyard each winter for the boys and their friends.
Glenn was a maverick but never a loner. He spoke his mind with an articulate and soft voiced determination that his many friends respected. A lifelong learner and voracious reader, Glenn was a spirited conversationalist on any topic.
Cremation has taken place as per Glenn's wishes and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Make a donation to

Long time friends were Glen and I. From the 1960’s and into the millennium. I have been wondering how and what Glen’s life was going these past years. Glen I always thought looked like Jack Nicholson and I am sure he broke many hearts. He was a superb father and had a great mind. I wished that I I was able to make contact again tried to find the information but could not. He lead a very private life and played his cards close. We shared a great Doctor Grant Bennington probably the most caring brilliant Dr in Winnipeg and I see them both now as I look to the sky walking by. My best to Devon and Beau and all the family. - Posted by: Robert “Dean” O’Neil (Friend) on: Jul 25, 2023

Glenn and I were childhood friends when we lived on Cambridge St. I remember when we both headed off to either kindergarten or grade 1 together. Had many good times when we were young and I have often thought of him. My condolences to his family and so sorry to hear of this - Posted by: Bob McKinnon (Childhood friend) on: Dec 21, 2022

Sending our heartfelt condolences to all the Gibson family from the McKinnon family formerly on Cambridge St in Winnipeg. Decades have passed by but our memories of the four of us playing with the four Gibson children will always be treasured. Our moms were good friends and we all were like a family together. Named my first son after him…. I left Wpg in 1964 to join RCAF but kept an annual Xmas visit to him for several years…. My memories with him are all fond…. Those days we were near delinquent teens together .never a dull day! We both managed to survive and lead successful lives….RIP I still remember his family today… you may have forgotten me - Posted by: Andy Anderson (Deuce) (Best friend some 60 years ago) on: Dec 03, 2022

My sincere condolences to the entire family. I have fond memories of sharing Christmas dinners with Glen and his family when we were children. A few years ago we moved one street over from him and through our mutual dog walking, we reconnected. I always looked forward to bumping into Glen and having good conversations about our families. - Posted by: Linda Winmill nee Daniel (Cousin ) on: Dec 03, 2022

Condolences from me and my brother John to Glenn's family and friends. We recall Glenn and his brother Roy from our high scroll days at Grant Park back in the mid 1960's. We lost touch when my family moved to Montreal after grade 11. It is good to see that Glenn had a close family life, maintained his River Heights roots and was well travelled and well read. May he be fondly remembered and Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Rick Wishart (Former classmate) on: Dec 03, 2022
