ANNE RAE COHAN
Anne Rae Cohan passed away peacefully at age 90, November 10, 2022. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Born in Winnipeg on September 26, 1932, to Bella Blitz and Joseph Weiner, Anne grew up in the North End, with siblings Gertie, Lil, Sydney and Sandra - a close family in a close community. Her formative years taught her generosity, kindness and dedication. Qualities which guided her life.
Anne really loved and believed in the importance of community and charity. She volunteered for many local organizations and contributed in many ways. With daughters in competitive swimming, Anne spent years by the pool and opened her home to kids and coaches from all over the world.
Being a mother and grandmother was a great joy in Anne's life and she did it well. She was progressive and open, even ahead of her time in embracing her daughters' birth families and cultures - seeing it as more family and people to celebrate with. As a Bobba, she was a mentor, caregiver, playmate and best friend. She loved family and friends and fun and games. Bowling, mah-jong, parties, family gatherings, opera, theatre and art enriched her life with good times and many friendships. She had a terrific sense of humour, loved to joke around and had a great laugh.
Anne was predeceased by her daughter Maureen. Left to miss her are: daughter Cheryl (Noah), grandchildren, Leah, Micah, Brina, Scott, Calista, and Nico, as well as many others.
