ELDA CERNE
Peacefully on December 3, 2022, Elda passed away, with her sister by her side lovingly holding her hand.
Elda is survived by her sister Loretta, Auntie Adrienne, cousins, Richard, Karen, Michelle, Marc, Josh, Joyce, Linda, Larry, Ron, Lisa, Anna, Julia and Eleanor.
Elda had a zest for life. She loved to travel to Mexico, Europe, Grand Forks and Fargo speed shopping.
Elda loved gardening. Every year she loved to plant the most beautiful flowers she enjoyed over the summer. She loved to watch and feed the birds, rabbits and marvel when the ducks returned in the spring and fall. Elda adored the family pets and any dog that crossed her path.
Elda loved to cook for family and friends with a lot of love and laughter. Everyone went home with a goodie bag of love. Elda never missed an opportunity to send and celebrate family and friends' birthdays.
My heartfelt thank you to my family, friends, neighbours and Dr. Fotti and the medical team at Grace Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre.
A private burial will take place in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Be at peace no more pain
Love always and forever
Loretta

Elda was someone that cared about everyone else, more than she did herself. A giving and loving person that my family and I consider family as well. She gave life to so much including the visiting animals, Her love for not only myself, but my daughters and wife was more then anyone could ask for. Whether it was the soups she shared or hugs she provided, they were always welcomed. Sharing our lives with her, Loretta, Vince and Lena since the early 90's was a gift we will always hold close to our hearts. Loretta continues the tradition of being our family more than just a friend or neighbour. Elda, joins her family now and can walk among the clouds. She greets my recently passed Mom with open arms and ensures the heavenly plants always have enough water, as they did here on earth. We miss you Elda. Thank you for allowing us to have nothing but great memories! Love, The Nimchonok family - Posted by: Sam Nimchonok (family) on: Jun 13, 2023

I had the privilege of working and knowing Elda for many years. Elda was always generous to share her knowledge of Old Age Security with me a CPP person. If you wanted a good restaurant well you could come to Elda for suggestions. Elda was great fun to spend time with at work and outside work! I was so sorry to hear if her passing thankful to hear it was peaceful! A bell rang in heaven as an angel got her wings! Rest in peace Elda. I worked with Elda at the then Canada Employment Centre and loved her stories and laughter and her empathy with the clients that came in. Such good times! And Elda was all about family…so important to her and so beloved! She will be missed. - Posted by: Elizabeth Dorey (Co-worker) on: Dec 11, 2022
