KENNETH GEORGE ODGER
September 3, 1963 - November 9, 2022

Ken passed away with dignity and grace at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Ken will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Deanna and son Jesse. Ken was predeceased by his mother Judy and survived by his father Fred. Left to cherish his memory are his brother Keith (Kim), nephew Matthew, niece Brittany, great-nephews, Jude and Wyatt, Deanna's parents, Sietze and Lynn Tulner, her brothers, Jack (Cherie), Pieter (Carol) and nieces, Holland and Erin as well as uncles, aunts, cousins and many special friends.
Ken's dedicated and strong work ethic throughout his career left behind a legacy at Canada Revenue Agency. Ken was passionate about his role as a field officer and proud of the Interview Techniques course he created and delivered throughout the agency. He was a mentor for many and he always had time to share his knowledge and expertise. Ken's world revolved around his family and at the center was the love of his life and best friend Deanna who he shared a lasting magic with. Ken developed a love of building mentored by his uncle Charlie and over the years he and Deanna built and created their beautiful home and backyard oasis. Ken could build and fix anything (so many decks!) and he was always lending a hand to anyone who needed help. In Ken's latter years a passion for wood carving evolved, he created unique pieces out of the wood that spoke to him. He could always be found in his garage surrounded by his chisels and wood chips.
Ken's proudest moment of his life was when he became a Dad. There were weekly visits to the zoo, backyard bonfires, snowball fights, afternoons throwing the football, passing the soccer ball, endless hours playing street hockey and time spent together working on projects so he could pass along his building skills to Jesse. Ken went to every sports practice, try-out and game and was Jesse's biggest champion. Ken loved his family and friends deeply. Each one was special to him in a different way and throughout his last weeks the bonds and strength of these relationships was evident. There were steadfast friendships made during Ken's youth playing sports at Orioles Community Club, friends who he debated and solved the world's problems with and afternoons spent on the golf course. There were many fun and happy family vacations with best friends Judy and Vic in Florida.
Ken loved having family and friends over to share a beer with in the backyard, everyone was welcome to play a game of pool on his beloved billiard table. Ken's humour and surfing moves to the B52s Love Shack song will always be remembered. Ken had the biggest heart and he touched so many people's lives, his kindness and compassion included all animals. Ken was known as the "Dog Whisperer" and he always had pats for any animal he encountered. He adopted many family dogs and a cat who needed good homes and they in return brought him great joy and lived wonderful happy lives.
Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Ken to the Winnipeg Humane Society or any animal shelter.
As per Ken's wishes cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Please celebrate his life and how he lived.

Cheers Ken, your love lives in our
hearts forever.

  • My condolences to the family. Kenny was such a wonderful person. He was generous, funny and always showed everyone so much respect. I have so many fond memories of Kenny, playing golf, playing pool and having a few "jars" together. I have worked with Kenny for over 12 years, I learnt so much from him. He was a genius with words, such an amazing public speaker. I remember when he made a scratching post for my cats. Kenny would do anything for his friends. I left my cell phone in his car one day, on his day off he came into the office and dropped it off. He would always say to me "Jr" we going golfing today. We really lost someone truly special. Miss you everyday, love you buddy. - Posted by: Kirk Willman (Friend/Co-worker) on: Jul 19, 2023
