DOLORES ELAINE MARIE CLEMENCE DENNIS
It is with deep sadness that we announce Dolores (fondly known as Dolly Dennis) passed away peacefully on December 11, 2022, just three weeks before her 80th birthday.
She leaves to mourn her son Todd (Carrie) and grandchildren, Isabella, Cassidy and Cainen, sisters, Diane Labossiere and Michelle (Norm) Chartier, brother Roger (Lorraine) Labossiere, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard, her son Dwayne, her parents, Roger and Anysie Labossiere, her sisters, Annette and Monique, her godson Richard Labossiere, in-laws, Wilfred and Merle Dennis, and various nephews and nieces.
Dolly started drawing at an early age, sketching scenes of the nuns at school and any other topic that caught her fancy. From 1970 on, she painted at local malls with the River East Arts and Crafts art group. She had two one-woman shows, one of which was at the Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain. Her art hung at the Legislative Building alongside art from the Interlake School Division. She participated in various Juried Art Shows in Manitoba. She sat on the Board of the Prairie Oaks Regional Arts Council for 15 years. Her works are displayed across Canada, the USA, Europe and Malaysia.
Aside from her love of art and painting, Dolly enjoyed writing, corresponding with a penpal in England for a period spanning 60 years.
Dolly authored a weekly Rosser column in both the Stonewall Argus and Teulon Times for 21 years until correspondents were phased out. She also appreciated the opportunity to write regularly for the Headingly Headliner for seven years where she penned a weekly article and wrote feature stories about events and people in the readership area.
She spent 15 years on the Board of Directors of the South Interlake Seniors Resource Council.
Richard and Dolly loved to travel; be it camping, or visiting the West Coast, England or Hawaii. Since being widowed in 1995, she took cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean, as well as many trips to visit friends and relatives across Canada and in Las Vegas, and visiting Disney World.
Her wit and charm will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Shingles research would be one especially important to Dolly
The memorial service will be held at McKenzie Funeral Home in Stonewall on Saturday, December 17 at 11:00 a.m.

Dolly & I went to school together. She's the one who introduced us, my future husband and me. We saw each other infrequently over the years, but I always considered her a special friend. Thank you, Dolly for your friendship. My sincere condolences to her family and friends who are mourning her passing. My condolences to the family. I worked with Dick at McDiarmid Lumber and got to know Dolly at various craft shows. I still have some of her artwork in my home. - Posted by: Brian Brown (Friend) on: Dec 14, 2022
