HERBERT KEITH STUBBS
We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather Herbert (Herb) Keith Stubbs. He slipped away peacefully at the age of 92, surrounded by family at Gimli Hospital on December 4, 2022.
Herb was predeceased by his wife Shirley Stubbs, parents Harry and Violet Stubbs, brothers Victor Stubbs, Harry Stubbs, Gerald Stubbs, Kenneth Stubbs, Lloyd Stubbs and sister Violet Smith.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter Lynn Werry (John), his son Stephen Stubbs (Amelia), his grandchildren Loren Werry-Hymers (Steve), Shay Werry, Rochelle Werry (Andre), Jordy Stubbs, JD Stubbs and great-grandchildren Natalie Werry-Sisk, Evelyn Hymers, Mekayla Werry, Jeremy Werry, Brandon Werry, James Werry, Shaelyn Thompson, and Xavier Werry-Tessier. Also left to mourn his passing are his sister Lucille Schmidt and brothers Robert Stubbs (Kathie), and Blake Stubbs.
Dad loved to read and liked nothing better than telling stories of his childhood growing up in Winnipeg during the 30's and 40's. His tales painted a vivid picture of life in that era. Times were tough but there was still a lot of fun to be had and they sure did. I was especially impressed to hear how he saved enough money to take dance lessons as a young man so he could make a good impression when meeting girls at the dance halls. He and Mom loved to dance.
Dad worked as an apprentice machinist at CP Rail before joining the Canadian Airforce. He loved working on aircraft and enjoyed his time in the Canadian Forces.
Dad requested that there be no funeral. There will be a private family gathering in the future for a celebration of both Herb and Shirley's lives.
The family would like to thank the outstanding staff at the Gimli Hospital for their long term care of Dad's leukemia as well as his palliative care.
