JAMES (JIM) BARR
August 13, 1932 – December 9, 2022

It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dad and grandfather, Jim Barr, at Stonewall Hospital.
Jim will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Keith (Kim), Bruce (Kathie), Doug, Michelle (Dwayne); his grandchildren, Rick (Tara), Neil (Paige) and Ryann; great- grandchildren, Raiden, Kaine and Harley and his many relatives and friends.
Jim was predeceased by his wife Sally; his parents, Thomas and Grace and his siblings, Robert, Hugh, Thomas, Grace and Anne.
Dad was born in Elphinstone, Manitoba and his family moved to the Point Douglas area in Winnipeg in his early years. There he met our mom and they were married in 1952. Our family was raised in East Kildonan, where our home was always a gathering place for family and friends. Dad worked as an electric motor rewinder and during and after his career, he was often contacted to be a problem solver by others in the industry. He started at Luke's Machinery in his teens and then worked at King's Electric Motors and B & B Dynamo. He was also called upon to jobs in northern Canada which he saw as an adventure in itself.
In 1983, Mom and Dad moved to a small hobby farm outside Teulon. Dad loved the country and enjoyed his garden, cattle, horses and farming. He helped coach men's broomball and was involved with the seniors' golf club in Inwood. He enjoyed his gambling trips to the US and in western Canada. Dad and Mom also travelled to Churchill and Alaska. Dad was an avid crib player and he could rattle off your points and his points before you finished putting your hand down. He volunteered at the Teulon Seniors' dances, usually selling 50/50 tickets. Dad lived in Gateway Manor for the last eight years and was well known to his neighbours and staff for his stories and cheeky personality.
The family would like to thank the Stonewall Hospital health care team, the Teulon area home care staff and the Gateway Manor staff for their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
