JAMES PHILLIP MAJEWSKI
With deep sadness the family of James (Jim) Majewski announce his sudden passing in Victoria, BC on December 5, 2022, at the age of 42 years, after a prolonged struggle with bipolar disorder and associated substance abuse.
Jim is survived by his parents Irene Majewski and Brian Robson, and Henry and Dorthy Majewski. Also left to mourn his passing are his sister Sheena, brother Andy (Crystal) and many dear aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Jim was born on April 10, 1980 in Winnipeg, MB and grew up in River Heights. After completing high school, Jim's adventuresome spirit took him to Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
Jim's love for building and flying remote control planes led to his eventual career in aeronautics. Jim attended the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace) and later obtained a certificate in Modern Aircraft Structures from University of Washington. He worked as an aeronautical engineer for various companies throughout North America, including Boeing and BE Aerospace, and was part of the team that designed the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Jim was a great athlete and loved sports. However, it was the social aspect of football and rugby that Jim enjoyed most. He loved his friends and teammates and brought much fun and joy to many people's lives. Jim was a sweet, kind and gentle soul with the biggest heart. He was funny and charming, always smiling and full of energy. He remained resilient, hopeful, and generous, helping those less fortunate than he was until the end. Jim was so grateful to all those who showed him kindness along the way and will be missed so much by so many.
In accordance with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will have a private ceremony at a later date. Rest in peace our beautiful son, brother and friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre in Winnipeg or a charity of your choice.

I had the privilege and honour to be Jimmy's linebacker coach when he played at Kelvin high school. I have coached for 23 years and have known many kids and Jimmy was one of the best I was ever around. He was a tenacious competitor and a great teammate. He always had a smile on his face and embraced his time on the field with incredible enthusiasm. He was such joy to coach and be around. I saw him a few years after he had graduated from university of Manitoba and his smile was still infectious. I had not seen him in a long time but thought of him often. To his family I am deeply saddened for your loss, he was such a special person. Rest easy brother, and thank you for the joy you brought to my life. I also had the pleasure of coaching Jim at River Heights Junior High. One of the great group of young ruggers. While half of the squad forgot how to play during the championship game, Jim showed an immense determination and carried the team to victory. It truly was inspiring to watch. A few years later I met him again as a young man with the Wasps rugby club. I haven't met too many persons as good-natured and happy as Jim seemed. It was with great surprise and sadness that I read of his passing and the struggles he lived with. My heart goes out to his family and friends. - Posted by: Cam Knudson (Friend, coach and teammate) on: Feb 06, 2023

I coached Jimmy at Kelvin during his time playing rugby there. He was the MVP of the team in grade 12 as not only was he a fantastic athlete but he also possessed all the attributes that made him a great player… determination, grit, sportsmanship and leadership. I am saddened and shocked to hear this news… condolences to his family. Blake - Posted by: Blake (Coach and friend ) on: Feb 03, 2023

I am deeply saddened to hear of Jim’ passing. I first met Jim, when I coached him in rugby, at River Heights Jnr. High. Even as a young athlete you could see his talent, drive and determination. Then, as he became a senior rugby player, I had the opportunity to play alongside him as a teammate. He was always supportive, respectful and quick with a smile. My thoughts are with his entire family. - Posted by: Ron Enberg (Friend ) on: Feb 02, 2023

I’m terribly sorry to learn that Jim is gone. We were close friends as young teens, and he was so full of life, with the biggest smile and the very best laugh. I saw him fall in love with model planes, and I’m so glad that he was able to carry that into adulthood. I have missed him many times over the years… Sending my deepest condolences to his family. - Posted by: Erica Prince (Childhood friend) on: Jan 01, 2023

It saddened my heart hearing the news of Jim’s passing. My condolences go out to Irene, Brian, and Sheena. When we lived together, Jim would cook amazing meals and help my boys with their homework. I will always remember Jim fondly His smile lit up a room and his presence was undeniable. His struggles were vast, yet he always had a smile on his face and a heart of a warrior. - Posted by: Jantina Conners (Ex girlfriend ) on: Dec 22, 2022
