LEO FONTAINE
Léo was predeceased by his parents André and Eveline (née Lagassé). Also left to mourn his passing are his siblings, Laurette (Eugène Leblanc), Denise (Don VanWalleghem), Lena (Marcel Champagne), Marcel (Betty), Gisèle (Gerald Stoesz), Henri (Kathryn), Pauline (Don Beavis), his in-laws, Claude and Pauline Lussier, Ginette Lussier and Russ Hardy as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Léo aimait beaucoup les sports soit à regarder ou à y participer; ses préférés étant le hockey et le golf. Léo made many friends through his sports; enjoying the antics of his hockey teammates of "Charlie's Angels" but his proudest hockey season was playing alongside his grandsons. Léo was definitely the oldest on the team bragging he kept up with those young players if only for a minute. During the summer, his favourite pastime was feeling the freedom of the road and enjoying the scenery on his motorcycle.
The family wishes to thank his childhood friend Gerry Bibeau for the weekly phone calls encouraging him and making him laugh. We also wish to thank the Palliative Care team at home and at the St Boniface Hospital for the care and compassion they showed him and us.
Respecting Léo's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on December 29, 2022, at 11 a.m. at E. J. Coutu & Co, 680 Archibald St.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Léo's memory to Manitoba Down Syndrome Society or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Winnipeg.

Leo was known as Mr. Bulldog when he got the puck and raced down the ice, as he was hard to catch and harder to stop. He played with great heart and determination, will miss my long time team mate. - Posted by: David Waters (hockey colleague) on: Dec 18, 2022
