ABRAM HIEBERT
August 16, 1940 - December 15, 2022

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle.
Abe was predeceased by his wife Mary; son Brad; and parents, David and Elizabeth Hiebert.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving family; children, Shelly (Doug), Melody, Kurt (Shelley) and daughter-in-law Kathy; grandchildren, Kayla, Cassandra, Emily, Matthew, (Addyson, James); dear brothers, Ruben (Agathe), Walter (Erna), Irven, Bryan, Harvey (Brenda); and many nieces and nephews.
Abe was born in Gouldtown, Saskatchewan, and then spent his childhood in St. Vital with his parents and five brothers. In 1961, Abe married the love of his life, Mary Drozda. They enjoyed 58 years together, raising their four children in East St. Paul, going to church, camping and golfing. Later in their retirement they spent time going to the Wellness Centre, enjoying their yard, time at the lake, watching curling, and helping with grandchildren. During all of his years, Abe inspired the family with his sense of adventure and joy of travel.
Abe will be greatly missed and always remembered for his never-wavering faith, love and kindness for family and friends. He was known for his dedication and work ethics, sense of humour and encouragement of others. He enjoyed working on ranches, dedicated 45 plus years in various management positions in the trucking industry, and in retirement, delivered hospital meals for RDF. Helping run and playing in the MTA Curling League was a favourite pastime for a good number of years.
He truly enjoyed people, continuing to develop cherished friendships at his apartment building. Everyone in the area recognized Abe and his best buddy Wally, scooting around on another one of their adventures. In the last few years, he also spent precious time with his brothers, Irven and Bryan.
Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the North Kildonan United Church 174 Pentland, Winnipeg, MB.

Take care and your family will always be remembered. - Posted by: Marion Mahara (nee Babiak) (Neighbour and friend) on: Jan 23, 2023

  • To my precious family, my prayers for strength through this difficult time. I am with you all in spirit and have extremely fond memories of Uncle Abe and our fun times! My Uncle Abe was a wonderful man who lived his life to the fullest! I remember as a child spending many night’s sleeping over with my cousins and singing and dancing, playing board games and card with both my uncle and aunt. Uncle Abe would chase us around and be silly with us, oh what wonderful memories. You will truly be missed Uncle Abe. God has you now and you have no more pain and suffering and are back with the love of your life, Aunt Mary and your son Brad. Till we meet again. 💗💗 - Posted by: Bonnie Arnyek (Uncle ) on: Dec 20, 2022

  • To Abe’s Family, We are so saddened to hear of Abe’s passing. We heard of our parents’ visits together over the years when your mom was still alive and were so happy to hear of Abe moving near to my parents. The visits and outings were bright times for all 3 of them esp for my dad. We met your father a few times during our family visits and it was a pleasure to help your dad too with little things. May God bless you at this time with strength and comfort. Please keep in touch with the Funk family. - Posted by: Diane (Funk) & Lowell Dennis (Wally’s daughter) on: Dec 20, 2022
