ERICH HARTFIEL
November 28, 1932 December 17, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather.
Predeceased by his parents: Rudolf and Auguste Hartfiel; sisters: Erna, Natalia, Hertha, and brother Ernst, he leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 66 years, Ursula; his sons and their families: Rudy (Paula, Victoria, William), Chris (Morgan, Caleb, Mason), Roy (Roselie, Isabella, Mattias); great-grandchildren: Nathan and Madelyn; sisters: Helen, Ella, Erika as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Rudinka, Poland, he eventually found his way to Janisroda, Germany where he met the love of his life and they married in 1956. They immigrated to Canada in 1962 where they started a new life. Erich enjoyed the quiet things in life... from picking mushrooms, tending his garden, casting a line, or merely watching the wildlife out his window... it brought him peace. His greatest joy in life however was being with his family and many friends, sitting quietly and soaking everything in.
Funeral service will take place December 28, 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut St., Winnipeg, MB.
Many thanks to the staff at 3 South (Grace Hospital) for all the care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be welcomed

My memories of Opa are many and somehow all of them brought laughter or smiles. From his days working at the mall to the permanent divet in the couch where he sat all the time. He was mostly quiet but when he did talk, it caused pause and usually something iconic came out. His memory will live on and I was very fortunate to have known him. Rest easy Opa, Love Kelly. - Posted by: Kelly (Daughter In Law) on: Dec 22, 2022
