MARGARET MURIEL BLAIN
(BEATTY)

October 9, 1928 - December 16, 2022

Surrounded by the love of her family, our mother Margaret Blain died peacefully at Concordia Place after a long struggle with dementia. She was 94.
Left with a lifetime of memories are her children, Susan Herringer (Ed 2021), Jim and Debby Blain, David and Patricia Blain, Donald and Madelaine Blain.
Mom was grandmother to Amy (Paul) Joliat, Jennifer (Dave) Johnston, Blain Herringer, Chris (Kristy) Blain, Michelle Blain, Jonathan Blain, Joel (Erin) Blain, Katie Blain, Alyssa (Ken) Harder, Shawn (Haley) Blain, Stephen (Rayna) Blain and great-grandmother to Cole and Reid Joliat, Michael and William Johnston, Ethan and Logan Blain, Xavier, Elijah and Isabella Harder and baby Hannah Blain.
Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Lorne Blain (2005); her parents, Jim and Edythe Beatty, sister Joan Beatty, brother Hyland Beatty, his wife Hazel and brother Kenneth Beatty. Mom's brother Brian Beatty and sisters-in-law, Joyce Beatty and Frances Beatty survive her.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Mom grew up in River Heights and raised our family in North Kildonan. She worked in an administrative role at St. Boniface Hospital for many years and was active in the Good Neighbours Retirement Centre, St. Boniface Retirees Association, The Hawthorne Club and John Black United Church.
Mom loved to dress up, socialize with friends and of course, dance the night away. She also loved to travel by car or plane and in her 80s was able to travel to Ireland to meet her Beatty relatives. When not travelling, you would find her in the kitchen making her renowned butter tarts.
Mom's final arrangements have been entrusted to Friends Funeral Services.
Cremation has taken place. Mom's ashes rest in an urn lovingly created for her. She will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery with her parents and sister Joan.
A memorial service will be held at John Black Church and interment will take place in summer 2023.
To honour Mom's memory, donations are gratefully accepted for John Black Memorial Church or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Our family would like to thank Concordia Place for the extraordinary care provided over the last several years, especially with all the challenges of the pandemic and health care crisis. Our Mom was safe, well cared for and loved.

A Mother holds her children's hands for a short time and their hearts for a lifetime.
