DIANNA LYNN MORTIMER
April 11, 1953 - December 18, 2022

It is with much love that we mourn the passing of Dianna Lynn Mortimer (nee Shirek), on December 18, 2022, at the age of 69 after a long struggle with progressive Dementia.
Dianna will be lovingly remembered by Greg, her husband of 40 years; daughter Brittany (Adam) Gray; and son Taylor; sisters, Lynda (Don) Zhorela, Cindy (Brian) Woinarowicz, of Grand Forks, North Dakota; brothers, Lee (Beth), Garret (Fran) of Denver, Colorado; as well as countless other family members from across Canada and the United States. Dianna was predeceased by her father Emil, her mother Doris, and her brother Scott.
Dianna was born in Michigan, North Dakota and lived in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Denver, Colorado before coming to Winnipeg in 1982 on temporary work assignment with Great West Life. Dianna and Greg first met while curling and from there a wonderful partnership and loving marriage soon began.
Dianna worked at Great West Life (Canada-Life) for 24 years in the Group Benefits Department and retired as Associate Manager in 2011.
Dianna was a beautiful and caring person and always put others before herself. She loved her children unconditionally and was exceptionally proud in how each of their lives took shape. Dianna was the definition of a quiet, strong, supportive person - she showed those around her that being kind was not a weakness but a strength, and that having an open ear to others' problems could solve most anything. Always a warm and thoughtful people-person, nothing made Dianna happier than travelling, and spending time with family and friends. Dianna's beautiful smile could light up a room as could her heartfelt laugh.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the St. Boniface Day Hospital, Golden Links Lodge and the Victoria General Hospital for the care they provided during Dianna's heartbreaking journey with Dementia.
Dianna, as the person we knew and loved for far too short a time, slowly departed before our eyes over the past few years. We will forever cherish the golden years we had with her and the joy she brought to us while we were fortunate enough to have her in our lives. Although we may never be able to fully understand the inner turmoil she endured while living with Dementia, we truly hope and believe she is now at peace.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Alzheimer Association of Manitoba.
As per her wishes, cremation will take place, and no formal funeral service will be held. A Celebration of Life for Dianna's family and friends will take place at a later date with interment following at Glen Lawn Cemetery.
