I have known Garry since his days in Regina some 27 years ago. He had a combination of qualities that will never be matched. He was a kind and genuine friend. His word was his bond, and his principles mattered above all else (or maybe a tie with his love for Judy). When Garry disagreed with you, he had a calm, confident and positive way to make you feel good about taking his side. He was universally respected on Bay Street and Wall Street. He was a fellow student of the market with whom we shared countless dinners, trips and the odd golf game (!). It is sad that his well-earned (second) retirement was cut short. My deepest sympathies to Judy and the family. Please know that Garry left an imprint on many of us. - Posted by: Eric Metivier (Colleague and friend ) on: Jan 15, 2023

Another great person gone too soon. There are no words to express how saddened we were to hear of Garry’s passing. I will always treasure the memories of working with Garry at the Province’s Treasury Division. He was a well respected business leader and a great friend. Condolences to Judy and family. - Posted by: Lynne Peloquin (Coworker ) on: Dec 29, 2022

I first met Garry through business and for the next 25 years we became friends. There are many great memories, several golf games, dinners at our favorite restaurant and especially those "keg dinners "that Judy would prepare on super bowl Sundays When I would fly in to Winnipeg to see Garry and my other accounts. Garry was one of the finest individuals I have ever met and I feel so lucky to have known him. I am so fortunate that I'm flew out this past October and had the chance to spend a night over dinner with Garry. My sincerest condolences to Judy and the family. - Posted by: Gary Petrinec (Friend ) on: Dec 28, 2022

So sorry to hear of Garry's passing. I first met Garry about 40 years ago when we were both working in the accounting department at Versatile.I really liked Garry's easy going personality and great sense of humour. I remember we had a conversation that we both enjoyed Cheers. We agreed that Norm the accountant had the best one-liners. I ran into Garry about 10 years ago at a local golf tournament. We chatted for about 15 minutes to catch up on our personal lives and share a few laughs. Garry's interest in people was genuine, just a great guy to hang out with. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Marc Ruest (former co-worker) on: Dec 28, 2022

Oh my gosh, Judy, so sad to here of Garry’s passing. My favourite memory is him playing records from what I recall was quite the collection and dancing at your home. I know you have many great memories to sustain you. Take care. Bernice❤️ - Posted by: Bernice Crossley (Pietracci) (Former co worker of Judy’s) on: Dec 27, 2022

We have lost a fine human being. Generous. Positive. Loyal. Compassionate. Smart. Funny. Humble. A friend who could be counted on. A golf buddy who maintained his sense of humour, even when not striking it all that crisply (which was often). A man who had big jobs, but never took himself too seriously. Loved his friends. Loved his family. Although it ended far too early, his was most surely a life well-lived. We are so, so grateful for the wonderful memories of times spent with Garry and Judy. Our lives are much richer for it. - Posted by: Dave & Jaymie Geddes (Friends) on: Dec 27, 2022

While still in shock that our friend Garry has passed that there isn’t a day I don’t think of him. Garry was a little bit like his dad Frank who had his unique way of expressing himself. With the wave of his hand Garry would respond that’s final the decision has been made. And so be it. Nobody watched more hockey games than Gary who rarely missing his buddies games. Garry was loved by all and just “had it” He is irreplaceable and will never be forgotten. He loved his family and his Judith! - Posted by: Gyl Toshack (Friend) on: Dec 26, 2022

I met up Garry over 20 years ago. I was immediately impressed by him. He was a smart, funny, succesful, generous and compassionate person. If I wanted to be like someone it would be him. We spent some time together on his boat last fall and it was such a great conversation and he's such a good example of what a human being should be. My sincerest condolences to the family. - Posted by: Lee Bilodeau (Friend) on: Dec 26, 2022

I was so saddened to learn of Garry's sudden passing at the young age of 68. Garry was an excellent employee at both the City of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba. He was also a marker for the CFA Society for many years. Garry had a positive attitude and a happy smile and was a very kind man. My condolences to Judy and his family. - Posted by: Ken Hayes (Friend) on: Dec 26, 2022

I met Garry and his twin Glenn in 1968. Safe to say, my life was never the same. Garry loved his family, friends, adventures and a good story/joke. Garry lit up a room when he walked into it. He was my first roommate and among many adventures, we drove to Las Vegas and Los Angeles in 1972. Garry’s professional accomplishments were also significant including a CFA and senior roles with the City of Winnipeg and the Provincial Government. Although Garry’s life ended far too early, he truly was an example of living life to the fullest. To say he will be missed, just doesn’t cover it. God Bless! - Posted by: Fred Smith (Friend) on: Dec 24, 2022

Garry was “one of the boys”, someone we met at River Heights Community Centre over 50 yeas ago. He became a life-long friend. Always a smile, always positive. So many great memories. He loved his family, his cottage, his life. We are so fortunate to have enjoyed our time with Garry-this past summer on his pontoon boat; our weekly golf games at Falcon Lake; and all the escapades growing up. He was loved by all his buddies and remembered as all that is good in life. All the best to Judy and family. - Posted by: Christopher Hodgson (Friend ) on: Dec 24, 2022
