MARIE JEANETTE WATSON
June 14, 1936 - December 12, 2022

Marie died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 86 years.
Marie will be deeply missed by her children, Wendy Brassard, Lawrence Bushell (Carole Bouchard) and Lee Bushell (Allyson Watts); as well as her stepchildren, Scott Watson and Marni Van Dale (Duane); and step-grandchildren Dylan and Hailey. Also mourning her death are her two remaining siblings, Ruth Monson (Peter) and James Puls (Eileen).
Marie was born in Winnipeg though grew up in Dauphin. She met her first husband, Don Bushell, and they married in September 1958. Marie and Don had their three children and in 1966 the family moved to Winnipeg. Marie was a telephone operator at Simpson Sears for many years. Throughout her life Marie loved dancing, fishing and creating. She enjoyed all types of crafts - painting, knitting, needlepoint, ceramics, sewing, acrylics, crocheting and gardening.
Don and Marie divorced in 1987. In the early 1990s Marie met George Watson and they married on October 17, 1992. They enjoyed many years together and considered each other best friends. Marie and George enjoyed spending time each day with their friends at the Salisbury House on Portage Avenue.
Marie greatly missed George by her side following his death in August 2020. Vascular dementia claimed Marie for the last years of her life. As her dementia advanced, Marie was placed in Oakview Place.
Although Oakview Place has received very negative press of late, Marie's family would like to express their appreciation to the outstanding staff of 1 North. The loving care and attention Marie received was exceptional. She was happy and active in her last months and died peacefully and in no pain.
In keeping with her wishes, Marie has been cremated and will be laid to rest in the "Memories Garden" at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue in the Spring of 2023. No public service will take place.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or another charity of your choice.
