ROLAND (ROLLY) CYRENNE

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Roland (Rolly) Cyrenne on December 20, 2022, in South Texas with his wife, Karen at his side.
Rolly is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen (Desilets), his two children, Blake (Dayna) of Elie and Cheryl (Randy) Rubeniuk of Angusville, his five grandchildren, Jenna (Joel) Classen, Riley Cyrenne, Kyle Rubeniuk, Garrett Rubeniuk and Hailey Rubeniuk, his sister Ella Mankar of Calgary and brother Yvon (Marilyn) of Swan River, his sister-in-law Louise Ogston, and brother-in-law Leonard (Mona) Desilets as well as many nieces and nephews and his "granddog", Tequila. Rolly was predeceased by his parents, Germain and Dorothy Cyrenne, his father and mother-in-law, George and Mary Desilets, his sister-in-law Christine Morse, his brothers-in-law, George Mankar and Jim Ogston.
Rolly was born in Winnipeg, June 22, 1945. He was raised on a farm in Fannystelle, Manitoba. The consolidation of schools in the 1960s brought Rolly to high school in Elie, where he met his wife to be, Karen. School wasn't the answer for Rolly and he left after grade 10 to work construction and become a lifelong Iron Worker. He loved his chosen profession and travelled to many locations to follow his work. He rose to the position of supervisor and remained a proud member of Local 728 of the International Association of Bridge, Structural & Ornamental Iron Workers to the end of his life. The first 10 years of marriage saw Rolly and Karen move ten times. His job took him from B.C. in the west, to Minnesota in the east, and an island in the Hudson Bay in the north, as well many locations in between, and finally to Elie where they built their home and settled 47 years ago. Many friends were made along the way. In the past 30 odd years, they travelled south for the winters. Mexico was one of their favourite destinations. They also visited, Florida, Louisiana, Arizona, California and of late Texas, where they made many new friends. Rolly enjoyed touring on his motorcycle and they took many trips to Sturgis for Bike Week. He recently traded in his Harley for a scooter which was a great help to him this past year.
Family meant a lot to Rolly. He loved to have his children and grandchildren close by. He was a great tease and I'm sure the grandchildren will be missing this very much.
Karen wishes to thank Willie and Suzanne Karels for their tremendous help and support at the time of Rolly's passing, as well as many other friends in Mission West RV Park, too numerous to mention here.
A celebration of Rolly's life will be held at the Vets' Hall in Elie, at 2:30 p.m. on January 21, 2023.
As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
