RAYMOND (RAY) GLEDHILL

Surrounded by loving family, Raymond (Ray) Gledhill passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 19, 2022 at the age of 91 to meet up with his loving wife Dorothy and many family members who predeceased him.
Ray was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, England and immigrated to Canada with his wife in 1955, settling in Winnipeg. He had a variety of careers (bus driver, delivery driver, owning his own driving school) over his lifetime; which produced many friendships. He loved to dabble in magic and was a member of the Magic Circle, putting on many shows and fundraisers. He worked for over 20 years at the Lucerne Dairy Plant from where he retired.
Ray and Dorothy retired to Kelowna in 2001. A few years after moms passing, Ray moved back to Manitoba, living with his daughter and son-in-law.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Ken (Gwyneth) Gledhill and Joyce (George) Thwaites; children, David Gledhill, Donna (Ray) Leclaire, John Gledhill and Alex (Tenille) Burdz; grandchildren, Kim, Jocelyn (Glenn), Kristopher (James), Victoria (Nathan), Jordan (Lilianne) and Jade; great-grandchildren, Kya, Olivia, Gibson, Isaiah and Preston; also by many other family members and friends both here and overseas.
Ray had many special friends, but his heart held a special place for Annamarie Bonneteau. A heartfelt thank you to Annamarie for the care and love she showed our dad. You shall forever hold a special place in all of our hearts, thank you.
In respect of Ray's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

  • Uncle Ray was a great Uncle. He always made us feel special. I loved watching his magic when I was young. I will miss his wonderful stories about my Mom and Dad. - Posted by: Yvonne Tadashi and Simon Fukada (Niece ) on: Jan 03, 2023

  • God bless Uncle Ray. Whilst you will be sadly missed, I am so fortunate to have a daily reminder of you in my dad, your brother Kenneth. In many ways you are so alike. Born in Yorkshire, you will always be a Yorkshireman and remembered here in the UK forever. Thinking of your family too. Lots of love. Mark Gledhill. - Posted by: Mark Gledhill (Cousin) on: Jan 01, 2023

  • Ray is the guy who taught me to drive! I remember taking Driver's Ed with him back when I was a student at WPC. He had a lot more patience than my Dad and I was thankful for that! My condolences. - Posted by: Kathy Stevenson (Former student) on: Dec 31, 2022

  • We always enjoyed spending time with Uncle Ray. We used to see Ray and Dot a lot when they lived in Kelowna near Mom and Dad. We are very glad that we got to spend a short time visiting Ray and family in Manitoba last summer. All our love Mike & Deb - Posted by: Mike & Deb Youngest (Nephew ) on: Dec 31, 2022
