EDGAR (ED) BURLEIGH WILSON

Peacefully in his sleep during the quiet hours of January 3, 2023, Ed crossed over from life here to join his Lord in Heaven.
Predeceased by his wife Audrey in 2012, Ed leaves to cherish his great life three children, Laura (Rick) Reimer, Jim (Audrey Hildebrand) Wilson, Margo (Tim) Kehler, his great companion Laurine Einfeld, his grandchildren, Graham (Danielle Sawatzky), Jayne, Jill (Bert Amante) Reimer, Jenna (Reimer) and Kyle Chemerika, Angus (Clare) Wilson, Lochlan (Alexandra) Wilson, Zoe and Mia Kehler, and Luke and Charlotte Reimer, his great-grandchildren.
His life, his intelligence, energy, and kindness were an inspiration to all of us, including the many friends, colleagues, fellow Navy League people, and neighbours unnamed here.
Please join us for a celebration of Ed's life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. in Winnipeg.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • To Margo, Jim, Laura and families. Friends for decades I have many fond memories of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson. I know the love of wonderful parents and the pain of losing them. May your happy memories, your faith, and the love of those who care sustain you at this time. Love Nancy, Tony and family. - Posted by: Nancy O'Regan (Friend ) on: Jan 06, 2023

  • May you have fair winds and following winds taking you home on this your final journey. Aye ready. - Posted by: Ron Skelton (Naval Officers Association Canada Winnipeg Branch) on: Jan 06, 2023

  • I’ll always remember your soft fatherly voice. Your strength and patience as a father, uncle, etc. camping with you,, Auntie R and Margo at 16 after mom passed away. Going on hikes in the mountains liking the smell of your pipe along with the evergreens. The time has seemed to exacerbate to fast since then. Of recent I enjoyed our conversations over the phone, you listening to my pain and helping me feel loved and strong again when I so badly needed to hear a fatherly voice. Your awe’s and listening skills. You telling me your age, not in a sad way but in a proud, celebrated way that really made me think. This is a Christian man who is content and accepting and almost joyful of his long rewarding life. Thankful and blessed to have so many years to enjoy his family. Who should not weep but rejoice in all the years and love they were so lucky to have with him. Just as he feels blessed of you in heaven. How wonderful his journey was on this earth. He knows we will cry and God gives us tears in order to heal. We all have our time. But when it comes we sometimes have the opportunity and peace to know our loved one lives on in joy and wonderment in their real home that God has prepared. He is not resting in peace but kicking his heals up with his wonderful and devoted wife. The last conversation with him he told me how much he misses his Audrey. I think he was prepared to be with her. This is too long but I feel unprepared to be in this crazy generation where the old more simpler and Godly elders are leaving us along with the great wisdom of their time. I would like everyone to reflect on the older generation and bring some of it back. Don’t let the superior aspects pass with it. Love you Uncle Ed and enjoy all your rewards in heaven. God Bless you greatly! - Posted by: Colleen Gockel (Askew) (Niece) on: Jan 06, 2023
