FRANK TERVOORT
February 3, 1938 - January 2, 2023
It is with deep sadness that the family of Frank Tervoort announce his passing on January 2, 2023 at the age of 84.
Frank was born on February 3, 1938 to Gys and Miep Tervoort, in Haarlem, Netherlands. With his family, Frank immigrated to Canada in 1950. They first settled in St. Eustache and later called Stony Mountain their home. In 1959 he met his future wife, Joyce, and they married in 1961. Joyce and Frank celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 13, 2021.
Frank is survived by his three sons, Bruce (Debbie), Doug and Randy (Pam); grandchildren, Meghan, Derek, Brittany (Josh), Ceejay, Nicole, Kristen (Brandon), Melanie and Mark; and great-grandchildren, Harlyn, Jake, Kaleb and Ariel. He is also survived by his sister Yopie, brother-in-law Kees Potter, sisters-in-law, Jo-Anne Souyri and Glynis Black and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Joyce, parents, Gys and Miep Tervoort; his brother Peter and sister-in-law, Joyce. He was also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Joe and Jill Souyri, his brother-in-law Benny; and grandson-in-law, Simon Edwards.
After raising their sons, Joyce and Frank enjoyed travelling and camping. Frank was a longtime employee of Winnipeg Transit and after retirement, Frank and Joyce spent many memorable winters in Weslaco, Texas.
Frank was an outgoing, fun loving, cheerful person who enjoyed dancing, socializing and the occasional beer.
Frank was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus and participated in many of their charitable causes.
Frank's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vital Parish, 1629 Pembina Highway on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Gerry Ward officiating.
