RODERICK PETER BUNN JR.
Giizhigo Inini (Sky Man)
October 3, 1951 –January 6, 2023

With his family around him; Roderick Peter Bunn Jr., passed peacefully into the arms of Creator. After battling with the final stages of COPD Dad left quietly to be with his son Rory Steffan, his mother and father, Marie Madeline and Rod Bunn Sr., he was also greeted by his brothers, Lee, Nelson, Clarence, Roland and sister Zelma.
Dad lived a full and adventurous life; as lead singer of the group Red Cloud, as a successful Pulp and Truck hauler, as an active assistant hockey coach, avid golfer, well-seasoned traveller, baseball and recreational hockey player. Dad loved to cut grass, shovel the road and clear the water from the puddles. Dad always walked or rode his bike - he kept himself active and he battled and survived Cancer. He truly lived a life full of love, laughter and humbleness.
He leaves to mourn Cynthia - the love of his life, his son Ruben, adopted son Sonny Bercier (Lorissa), daughters, April Courchene, Anissa and Stacy, adopted daughter Sharon Bruyere, baby boy Sean (Sybil), his 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Dad is also survived by his siblings: Mary Whitesell (Dallas), Ambrose, Lena Harry, Wilfred, Doris Whitesell, Henry, Cameron (Harriet), Lionel (Marie), Beverly and Blaine; his best friend and brother Lloyd Bunn (Teresa). Dad had numerous friends and family who were very dear to him and we acknowledge every single member of his circle of friends and family. We thank you for the love and friendship everyone has shown to our dad and we honour the aunts, uncles, numerous nieces and nephews who have come to support us in our grief.
Wake services are being held at the family home on the North Shore in Sagkeeng First Nation, Monday, January 9 to Thursday, January 12, 2023. Funeral services will be held at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church, Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. with Father Augustine Ezediniru officiating.
