MADELEINE COURNOYER
(nee CLOUTIER)
May 26, 1935 - January 6, 2023
Peacefully, after receiving her Last Rites with family by her side, our beloved mother Madeleine passed away at Actionmarguerite, St. Boniface, at the age of 87.
Madeleine will be forever loved and missed by her children, Jeanne, Paul (Danielle), Gilles (Aline), Ida (Glenn). Also missed by 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Jean in 1994 and grandson Mario in 2019. Predeceased family members include father Donat, mother Eva, siblings, Henriette, Harvey, Elaine, Lucille, Noella, Laurette, Therese and many more loving aunts, uncles, and relatives from the Cournoyer family.
Mom was born in Ponteix, Saskatchewan. Her family moved to Lorette in 1949 where she met Dad and they married in 1953. After graduating from high school, Mom worked at the Royal Bank. When all four kids were school aged, Mom returned to work and taught driver's education at Lorette Collegiate and College Gabrielle- Roy for many years.
Mom was actively involved in many parish and community activities volunteering and meeting people in Lorette. She was very passionate about curling. Mom was very supportive of her children and grandchildren. She drove us to our many activities growing up. She enjoyed many celebrations and gatherings and would entertain us with her beautiful piano playing.
Mom and Dad enjoyed many trips travelling, gardening, playing cards, golfing and spending time with their grandchildren.
Shortly after celebrating their 40th anniversary, sadly, Dad was diagnosed with cancer. Mom stayed home to care for Dad during this time. Because of this, Dad's wish to pass away peacefully at home surrounded by family was fulfilled.
We, the children, are forever grateful for our strong, enduring mother who was always there for family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Madeleine's name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lorette Church, 1282 Dawson Rd., Lorette, MB with Father Mario officiating.

I always will remember Madeleine as a very friendly, active, involved, and caring person. She was a person that exemplified what a good citizen of a community should be! I know she will be missed greatly from her family and friends. Although Madeleine is physically gone, she still exits but does not have any of the restrictions and ailments that plagued her here on earth. I know that life exits beyond this world and there will be some amazing reunions with Madeleine and other loved ones in the future. Meanwhile, please accept my most sincere condolences at this difficult time and may the Lord comfort you with the knowledge that families can be together forever.
