MICHAEL EDISON LEHMANN
It is with deep sorrow, broken hearts, and much love that we mourn the passing of Michael Edison Lehmann at the age of 48. He passed away bravely and peacefully at Southwood Care Centre in Calgary January 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born in Swan Lake, Manitoba on February 2, 1974. He grew up in nearby Somerset until has family moved to Brandon when he was 11 years old. It was in Brandon where his love for hockey took hold and where he played in the AAA hockey program. After graduating from Vincent Massey High School in 1992, Michael played junior hockey in Portage La Prairie, Kimberley and Merritt in BC. "Lehmann" was a team player, as valued for his off-ice antics and positive attitude as he was for his on-ice effort and tenacity.
Following his junior hockey career Mike returned to Manitoba to attend Brandon University where he played with the Bobcats hockey program and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. It didn't take long for Mike to move west to Calgary and settle into a career in IT Business Analysis which evolved into Manager of Security Operations. Mike loved spending time in the mountains, and he eventually purchased a second home in Kimberley BC. Mike loved to travel, which typically involved a sunny beach and cocktails with friends and family. Mikey will be remembered for his magnetic over-the-top personality and his big warm heart.
Surviving Michael are his spouse, Ellie Jung, his parents Wayne and Brenda, brother Kurt (Tamsin, children Burke and Isabel), sister Jackie (Tyler, children Peyton and Kael), also many uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members, and the best friends and co-workers anyone could have.
Mike's wish was not for a funeral, rather a celebration of his charismatic life with music, reflection on happy times, and of course laughter. His service will be held on Saturday January 14, 2023, 1:00PM, at South Calgary Funeral Centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brain Cancer Canada at braincancercanada.ca in Michael's memory https://braincancercanada.ca/causes/miekl-lehmann/
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.southcalgaryfuneralcentre.ca for the Lehmann family.
