It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on January 15, 2023, at the age of 95.
Born in Grahamdale, MB, Mom was the ninth of ten children. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; parents, Ludwig and Anna; brothers and sisters, Asaph, Martha, Edith, Arthur, John, Delila, Harding, and David.
Norma will be lovingly remembered and missed by her sons, Douglas (Karen), Howard (Cheryl), David, Rod (Debbie), Jeff (Sherri); her brother, Herbie (Hazel); grandchildren, Jeremy, Brittney, Patricia, David, Jason, Liam and many nieces and nephews.
Mom worked hard over the years on the farm in Hilbre, MB, raising her boys and working at the endless chores that come with living on the farm. In summers, she tended a large garden and, in the fall, she worked tirelessly to store and preserve the garden harvest. She enjoyed taking turns cooking Christmas dinners with her family, and these holidays became part of the family lore. Everyone left the table stuffed.
In 1989, she and Gerald retired to Winnipeg to be close to their family. Mom enjoyed going to church and chapel, and had a strong faith that got her through many difficult trials throughout her life. In her last years, she surrounded herself with family photos, and when her boys came to visit, her face lit up with joy at the sight of them.
We wish to send our sincere appreciation to all the wonderful and caring staff at Lion's Personal Care Home for their excellent care during Mom's many years living there. They treated her like family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
