ALINE MARIE CLARA LAHAIE-RIOUX

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Aline Marie Clara Lahaie-Rioux on January 14, 2023 at the age of 58. She passed away with her friends by her side along with the most attentive staff at Action Marguerite Taché.
Aline was born on December 21, 1964, in Ste. Rose MB. She was the only child of Lucien Lahaie and Cecile (nee Guyot). Growing up she enjoyed cross-country skiing, figure skating, bike rides to nowhere, garage sales and walking. She loved baseball, especially pitching.
After graduating high school in Ste. Rose, she attended the University of Brandon before moving to Winnipeg in 1986. There she graduated with honors in Special Needs Child Care at RRCC.
She met Real through a mutual friend and they were married on November 2nd 1991. During this time, she enjoyed a life full of parties, bon fires, great neighbors, family get-togethers, dinner parties and outings with friends. She loved gardening, and scouring second hand stores for treasures.
She continued to work until mobility issues led to a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. In 2011 she needed 24-hour care and moved to Action Marguerite Taché.
Although she struggled physically, she will be remembered most by her beautiful blue eyes and her commitment to friendships. She was not a complainer; she accepted her challenges with grace and dignity. She will be missed most by her friend Herb, and her sisters-in-law Deedee and Gigi. We would like to thank the staff at Action Marguerite Taché who have taken care of her daily needs but mostly her spirit over the past 12 years. Rest in peace dear friend.
A private Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society of Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I am so sorry to hear this. I have tried to look you up many times but was not aware you were in Actionmarguerite. I will never forget all the summers at my grandparents where we spent every moment together. You were a great friend. Rest easy Aline and may we play in the garden again some day. - Posted by: Marlene Schurko (friend) on: Feb 06, 2023

  • Dear Aline, You were always kind to me and I enjoyed the times we spent together in school, doing sports and of course socials and dancing, singing (you knew the words to every song) and sharing time with mutual friends. You always made me laugh out loud and you never lost your sense of humour. You could make your point without offending anyone whether or not they wanted to hear it. Our lives may have gone in different directions, but when we did see each other again it was like time had not passed. Thank you for being a great friend. Rest in peace. • Aline my dear friend. I will remember you always. Oh the memories: baseball, camping, parties, adventures, family and friends, oh and let’s not forget - rabbit feet 🤣 and so much more. Sorry I grew distant, moved away and life got busy and complicated. I thought of you so many times throughout these last years. Rest in peace, till we meet again. Your friend always, Joanne. ♥️ - Posted by: Joanne (Friend) on: Jan 21, 2023

  • I remember Aline when she was growing up in Ste Rose and knew her parents. She always seemed to be such a happy person RIP Aline you have been reunited with your parents. - Posted by: Debbie Pinette (Old friend ) on: Jan 21, 2023

  • I knew Aline from high school at the Ste. Rose Collegiate. I didn't know her well but we talked a bit more when she dated one of my cousins for a while. Our lockers were close by at that time. I was a few years younger and she always acknowledged me and was nice. I thought she was such a striking pretty girl and had a lot of wit. One good memory I have of Aline is going to a Halloween party with her and one of her best friends (a cousin of mine) about a decade later. We sat inside a Wendy's restaurant for eats before driving out of the city to this party at another cousin's. I remember we all laughed a lot. I am so sorry to hear she passed. - Posted by: Brenda L (Friend) on: Jan 21, 2023

  • Aline and I first met when we both took piano lessons in Ste. Rose, then competed against each other playing baseball, she was a pitcher for the Ste Rose team and I was back catcher for the Laurier team. We became fast friends in high school when we were in tenth grade and had many memorable times playing sports, going out with friends, partying ,and just hanging around. She helped me greatly when we shared an apartment while I was in nursing school and she went to RRCC. We were bridesmaids in each others weddings. Despite the distance between us when I moved far away, we stayed in touch with phone calls, birthday and Christmas cards. We would visit each summer when I came back to see my family. Aline had an infectious smile, beautiful blue eyes and a wicked sense of humor. She was a treasured friend and my heart breaks for all the time we were apart, but I know she is now at peace and we will see each other again. Until then, see you later my friend, I love you, Carol - Posted by: Carol (Friend) on: Jan 21, 2023
