ALBERT MARTIN
On January 10, 2023, after a lengthy illness, Albert Martin, age 77, took his last breath, with his wife by his side.
Predeceased by his parents, George and Bertha Martin, and brother Edward, he is survived by Jeanette, his wife of 51 years, brother Robert of Winnipeg and numerous cousins.
Albert grew up in the Windsor Park area and played hockey, football, fastball and golf in his younger years. During his working career, he was employed by Maple Leaf Mills Ltd., Manitoba Sugar and the City of Winnipeg. A millwright by trade, there was nothing he could not build or fix. Albert was always a chronic over-achiever and he excelled at anything he put his mind to such as his legendary talents as a carpenter/deck builder/cabinet maker and gourmet BBQ chef.
He enjoyed spending summers at Lester Beach where there were always projects to be done like painting, repairing and maintaining the property to perfection.
Albert always made friends easily and would light up a room with his quick wit and amazing sense of humour that stayed with him to the end. He faced numerous health challenges over the years and met each one head on with strength and determination, never once complaining.
A little known fact was Al's love of any and all things Irish - the music, the food, whiskey and beer and most importantly, his Irish Wheaten Terrier, Storm.
Your life was a blessing,
Your memory a treasure,
You are loved beyond words,
And missed beyond measure.
May the Angels guide you home to rest.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Park Manor Care for the excellent care provided to Albert during his stay.
In accordance with Albert's wishes, no formal service will be held at this time.

I have known Al and his wife for 39 years. I have been seeing Jeanette once a week for all those years as her hairstylist, which in turn results in knowing Al in an indirect way. Jeanette was very proud of Al with all his amazing talents and skills. He loved to help people and always had time to chat and tell funny jokes. Al’s charming witt would always keep you laughing and creating memories . Al had an undeniable love for his wife and unconditional love for his pups over the years. You will be greatly missed but you have left so many memories to hold close to ours hearts. - Posted by: Penny West (Friend) on: Jan 21, 2023

Al and Jeanette lived behind my parents for as long as I can remember, and became good friends. There was nothing he couldn’t make or fix. A year prior to our wedding, he renovated our entire house…….. I helped along the way and learned a lot from him. Everything he did to our house is still there, and he is always in our minds. I think he left a lot of his spirit in our house, and several of his quips graces the walls of my garage…… ¡ descanse en paz amigo ! ♥️ - Posted by: Doug (Neighbour/Friend) on: Jan 21, 2023
