CHESTER R. BEACOM
1928 - 2023

Chester Robert Beacom passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital on January 29, 2023.
Chester was raised in the Weston neighbourhood of Winnipeg. An avid sportsman, he excelled in many sports. Hockey was his love and passion, earning him a place on the New York Rangers' farm team.
In 1949, Chester met the love of his life, Laureen Finn. They married in 1952 and celebrated 70 years of marriage last year.
Chester is survived by his wife Laureen, son Shane and daughter Sharon. He was a proud grandfather to Colleen, Kevan, Christine and Kelsey, and great- grandfather to Max, Amelia and Henry.
Chester spent 72 years working in the printing industry, retiring at the age of 90 from Contemporary Printing, where he made many lasting friendships.
His favourite place was his residence in North Kildonan. He cherished living there with his family and enjoyed his backyard with his beloved dogs Fifi, Clancy, Daisy, Bailey and Jilly over the years.
No official service will be held.
His family would like to thank the wonderful staff at N3East at Concordia Hospital, who showed him respect and compassion. A special thank you to his caregiver Linda, who formed a special relationship with our father.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honour of Chester to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Rest easy Dad, until we see you again.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Our sincere condolences to the Beacom family on Chester's passing. It was an absolute honour to have worked with Chester. The mentoring and friendships he made down at Contemporary will never be duplicated. One of his favorite saying to us. "You don't know 2/5 of anything" and then proceed to tell us what to do. Not to many companies have the fortune of having father and son (Shane) working and then retiring. We all loved him and will miss him. As the Sinatra song goes "I Did It My Way" Rest Well my friend. • Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I have many memories of your Mom and Dad. They were a part of my childhood that I cherish! Conversations over the back fence, cocktail hour with Fifi (although too young to take part) a few of them. - Posted by: Sheri Thomson (Redekopp) (neighbor) on: Feb 05, 2023

  • My sincere condolences to Shayne, Dorothy, Sharon and their families. Your father was an amazing man. He was always so welcoming and happy to put everyone at ease. We shared many good times with him and your mom. I’m so sorry that such a wonderful person is gone. May he Rest In Peace.
