BEVERLY JEAN BUTCHER
June 17, 1927 - January 26, 2023

It is with sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother Beverly ("Bev") Butcher (nee McLaughlin). Beverly passed away peacefully at the Charleswood Care Centre after a short stay following years of independent living.
Mom was born to Norval and Jennie McLaughlin and had two older siblings: sister Muriel Jennie and brother John ("Bud") Earl. After high school Mom worked at the Canadian Pacific Railway for nine years until she married husband Herbert ("Bert") John Butcher. The couple welcomed daughter Linda and son Doug a few years later.
Mom was an excellent seamstress, knitter and ceramic teacher. She was also a much loved grandmother to Chris (Campbell) and Jenny (Campbell-Krocker). Mom was predeceased by her husband Bert and her siblings. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Paul (Nehra) and Joanne (Butcher) and grandchildren, Chris and Jenny (partner Mike). She will be missed by them and her many nieces, nephews and friends.
We would like to thank the people who helped Mom remain independent. Mom was especially fond of Dr. Quy Doan at the St. Boniface Clinic who provided her with excellent care. We would also like to thank the staff of Unit 1 for their warmth and kindness.
It was Mom's wish that there not be a funeral, and so a private graveside service will be held in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

  • I am so saddened to hear that Bev passed away. I loved her wit, her independence, her personality and just everything about her. I will forever cherish the last Christmas I spent with her in the home of Ricki and Jerry. She was a loving member of our friendship family and we will all miss her so very much. Rest in peace lovely lady. It was a honor to have known you. You will always hold a soecail place in my heart. - Posted by: Dianne Kennedy (friend) on: Feb 04, 2023
