FRANK HORNBY
July 29, 1936 - January 28, 2023
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Frank Hall Hornby. Frank passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital on January 28, 2023.
Frank lived most of his life in Winnipeg and retired in Headingley. He was a lover of nature and spent many hours walking and cycling through the community leaving no trail unexplored, often stopping to chat with everyone he passed.
He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Shan, son James, and sister Jane. He is survived by his sister, Ross-Ann; children, Rhonda, Phillip, and Tracey; and many other grandchildren and relatives. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the dedicated staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Amant Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.
A joint service will be held to celebrate both Frank's and Shan's lives on Friday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Charles Headingley United Church located at 110 Bridge Road in Headingley.

To Rhonda, Phillip, Tracey and their families, My sincere sympathies to all of you having lost both your parents in a short time. I have very fond memories of Frank and Shan from when I worked for St Amant. (I worked with Rhonda at Tracy Crescent and then followed her to Glen Meadow Apartments for another 2 years) . Your mom and dad were always warm and welcoming. I remember the girls from Tracy Crescent and staff invites to the cabin during the summer and those were fun times. They were very supportive parents. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Frank's family and friends. I met Frank 43 years ago on my first day of work with Ford on Ellice Ave. Frank welcomed me warmly and provided sage advice and also a lot of dry humour over my time there. Three years later I was transferred to Ford in Oakville and every once in a while I would get an inquiry from Frank, “how are you doing down there young fella?” That was Frank. I appreciated his friendship and also mentorship. Sing your heart out in that celestial choir Frank! - Posted by: John Junker-Andersen (Co worker) on: Feb 07, 2023

My condolences go out to Frank's family on his passing and my thoughts and prayers go out to all who were close to him. He was a long time member of the Winnipeg Male Chorus and we have missed his humour, integrity and humility since he retired from the choir to care for his beloved Shan. We were indeed blessed to have Frank as a member of the tenor section of the WMC. - Posted by: Jack B Cameron (Friend and fellow choir member) on: Feb 06, 2023

We have missed you at the chorus Frank. You were there when I just joined many years ago and helped me with all the new songs. I know you always enjoyed singing and I think you already have joined the heavenly choir. RIP My friend Nick Hogeveen - Posted by: Nick Hogeveen (Fellow Winnipeg Male Chorus member) on: Feb 06, 2023

My deepest condolences to you , Philip, Tracey and Rhonda . I share in your sadness as you grieve the loss of both of your parents. My memories go back over many years of a special bond of friendship shared first with Shan, my forever friend, and then with Shan and Frank and their children. We shared happy times and sad times and everything in between with good friendship times. It has been a most memorable experience and pleasure to have had their company over so many years of my life journey. They will be missed. I have many memories and I know that you, their children and grandchildren, will find great comfort in all of your wonderful memories in the days, and weeks and years ahead. Thinking of you in sympathy, Shirley Augustine. - Posted by: Shirley Augustine (friend) on: Feb 04, 2023
