COLLEEN (SUSIE) FRANCIS RAKOWSKI
1953 - 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen on January 28, 2023, with her husband by her side.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Larry; nephew Chris (Jen), great-nephew Jake (Samantha) and Ben as well as her many friends.
Colleen was predeceased by her best friend and sister Kathy, mother Lenore, father Harry, grandmother Mary, grandfather John.
Colleen was born on May 16, 1953 in Winnipeg, MB. She grew up in River Heights and attended Grant Park High School where she made so many friends along the way and her sister was always close by.
Colleen was a hard worker and had many jobs including the Charleswood Legion, Eaton's, National Drugs, Glass Tech, before spending the rest of her career at Focus Hyundai. She was the Controller for 28 years up until her retirement, six years ago.
Colleen enjoyed golfing, curling and travelling and cherished the time spent with her close friends during these activities after her retirement.
She will be sadly missed by Harry, Darlene, and Anna Pubben, Ina and Ed Melnick, Dwayne, Tammy, and Kyle Hodgins Rector, Madeline and Jerry, Christine and Trevor Melnick, Ivon and Doreen, Blair and Ellen Cairns, Elaine Primeau, Ina's son Gary and family, Dan Dubesky and family, Lynne Montgomory and Bob, Judy Gillies, Margo Pike and all of the Gillies gang, Dave Holz, Fran and Richard from Sun Life, Anne Labossiere, Carla, Lori and Jerry, Leslie Clark, Sandy Lebarron, Susan Watson, Frank and Chris Kearns, as well as many more and the gang from Focus Hyundai.
Larry would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Dave Dawe and Cathy the medical oncologists at CancerCare including the Palliative Care Nurses who looked after her at home.
As per Colleen's wishes, cremation has taken place so she could be with her sister Kathy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Charleswood Legion.
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. By Larry.

Colleen and her sister Kathy will be sorely missed. We were friends at Grant Park and they were both rays of sunshine in my life during that time.
