JEANNETTE EMERENCE GODARD
(nee FILLION)
April 22, 1938 - January 29, 2023
Peacefully, our sweet mother, mémère, sister, Jeannette Godard, has left this world. We will remember her for her huge heart and all the love she had to share and for her thoughtfulness and kindness.
Jeannette leaves to mourn son, David (Samantha) Godard; cherished granddaughter, Stephanie; daughter, Marilyn Godard; sister, Lorraine (Maurice) Tetrault; brothers, Marcel (Henriette) Fillion and Paul (Darlene) Fillion; sisters-in-law, Cindy and Lucille and many nieces and nephews.
Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Gerard (1993); parents, Emile (1989) and Annette (nee Granger 1980); brothers, Raymond (1997), Leo (2001) and Armand (2009).
Jeannette was born and raised in St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba. She lived most of her life in St. Jean and it is where she met Gerard. They married in 1963 and eventually moved to Winnipeg. Jeannette was a devoted mother and loved kids; she and Gerard also cared for numerous foster children while raising their family. She was a childcare worker and volunteered at schools. She had many hobbies and projects where she shared her creativity with anything from knitting and needlepoint to ceramics to building Christmas villages and collecting antiques. She loved spending time with Stephanie in the garden picking veggies or in the kitchen cooking something delicious and just hanging out. She also enjoyed gardening and designed a beautiful little flower garden for herself. She returned to St. Jean in her retirement years to be close to her aunties, extended family, and community.
Be at peace, Mom, and know that you are never far from our thoughts or hearts.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the nurses, support staff, doctors and all those at Red River Valley Lodge who aided in the caring for Mom in her final years. We appreciate you and your work did not go unnoticed.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave.
