I spent many happy Sunday mornings with George and the other retired fire fighters during my association with the Fire Fighter's historical Society. His advice and comraderie helped me through some difficult times. George possessed a down to earth compassion for his fellow man that I learned from greatly. Some of what he taught me I still use today in my career after I left the City. He always spoke with pride about his beloved Charlotte and family. He was a great man, an unsung hero and I'll miss him greatly. - Posted by: Don Hallock (friend) on: Feb 05, 2023

Sincerest condolences to Charlette and the entire family. George's love of firefighting and the Historical Museum he was a founding member of, were two very clear traits of his. He assisted us greatly in putting together a historical collection outlining the role firefighters made in support of the aims and objectives of the famous 1919 Winnipeg General Strike. I spent many hours researching this history at the museum and always enjoyed George's company. May he rest in peace. Paul Moist - Posted by: Paul Moist (Friend) on: Feb 04, 2023

Good ole Georgie! We did have a lot of good times during our years at #4. He loved reminiscing about firefighting and his travels over the years. His sense of humour, unique eyeglasses, his land claims explorations in search of gold were just a few of the things which made us smile. We would see him at his cottage near Gimli regularly catching up on life. Miss ya buddy. Take care Charlette. - Posted by: Ken & Debbie MacLeod (Friend ) on: Feb 04, 2023

George and I spent many years on the same shift. He was my Captain at Station 22 for years. He was a good firefighter and became a good Captain. I also thought of him as a friend. From his frequent jonts to India, his passion for strange sea creatures to riding his bike to work in the winter. George did his own thing in his own time. My admiration and my condolences to his family. - Posted by: Scott Miner (Collegue) on: Feb 04, 2023
