Our thoughts and prayers to Jack's family. I remember him and Lois from St. Ignatius Toastmasters. Both of them were a joy to the club and are fondly remembered. - Posted by: Margaret & John Logan (Toastmaster Acquaintances) on: Feb 06, 2023

Jack and I were also friends from the Writer’s group. For a while he joined us in a short-lived but fun poetry group as well. I joined some of Jack’s friends one Christmas for tree decorating, and when I moved away for five or six years, we kept in touch by email. Jack was someone I shared my poetry writing with, and when we were in a group, he always introduced me as Susan the poet — which made me smile, but was also encouraging. He taught some of our writing classes, and I know we were all very fond of him, sad for him when he lost his wife, Lois, and again later when one of his son’s died as well. I have missed Jack and now will miss him more. My deepest condolences to you and all those who loved him. - Posted by: Susan Berry (Friend) on: Feb 04, 2023

I knew Jack briefly. His writing group's chair was beside me a few times when I joined this group three years ago. . When I learned he was a desk editor at the Winnipeg Free Press years ago I revealed to him that I worked in advertising at the Winnipeg Sun for 10 years. I told him I was a columnist for a very brief time, but worked in advertising. During the class each of us would take our turns reading what we had written, and when Jack turned to me one day, and said my writing was very good, I just felt a part of something bigger. We all had a lot of respect for Jack, and the fact that he kept coming to class all these years. You will be missed. 🙏🏻 - Posted by: Laurie gyde (Seniors writing group) on: Feb 04, 2023
