LYNDA JONES
June 27, 1947 - January 31, 2023

On this date the world lost a truly amazing human, left to live up to her wonderful example are her partner of 54 years, Ken; her daughters, Kathy (Doug Kisil) and their children, Max, Sam and Jack, Kelly (Jeff Kergen) and their children, Avary, Annika, Kennedy and Nathan; sister Ruth and brother Bill; nieces, Sandra and Leslie, and nephew Rick (Kelley), and brother-in-law Don Jones.
Lynda grew up in East Kildonan and attended Miles Macdonell Collegiate where she met Ken, together they raised their daughters Kathy and Kelly enjoying camping, skiing and hanging out in the backyard pool. The highlight of her life was the arrival of her grandchildren, she gave up work to become the best "granny nanny" caring for five kids all under five years old, packing them up and taking them for adventures all around town. She crafted, baked, swam and wrestled, took them to appointments, recreational activities and did school drop off and pickups. As her life came to a close she spoke to each grandchild individually being sure they knew how much they were loved.
Lynda had many friends from high school, the neighborhood, from teaching school and fitness, from volunteering and the many friends she met while attending Good Neighbors Senior Centre, toward the end of her life she made friends in every hospital quickly becoming the ward sweetheart. Many staff and patients will never forget "Miss Lynda".
Thank you to all the friends and relatives who visited from near and far during her last days. Thank you to the staff of Health Sciences Centre, Riverview Health Centre and especially her N1N "family" at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion.
Lynda was a beautiful soul, she loved fiercely and gave generously, she preferred minimalism, having donated most of her belongings and always declined gifts insisting on donations to others less fortunate. She was always optimistic and grateful and accepted her illness with grace and dignity, she made everyone around her laugh and enjoy every last moment with her. Caring for her during the end of her life was a great privilege for our family.
Lynda has requested no funeral but instead that we meet to celebrate the gift of life together, we invite friends, family and neighbors to bring memories to share on Friday, February 17 at 3:00 p.m. at the Henderson Royal Canadian Legion, 215 Maxwell King Drive.
Please bring nonperishable food items for Harvest Manitoba at Lynda's special request.

  • Many good memories for me with Lynda. I first met her through Fitness First and remained working out with her for 17 years. My heartfelt sympathy to Ken, Kathy. Kelley and families. Lynda was one of the best and I shall treasure my memories with her. - Posted by: Frances Kozak (friend) on: Feb 06, 2023

  • I met Lynda through our “Kisil connection “. We usually saw each other at piano recitals or something else that brought our grandkids together. We always addressed each other as “Mrs.”, and always had a pleasant little chat. After a few of these meetings, we confessed that we actually could not quite remember each other’s first name. After that we made a point of emphasizing our first names and having a little chuckle. Lynda was always such a happy, friendly, gracious lady, and I am honoured to have known her. My deepest sympathy to all of her family for their great loss! Rest In Peace Mrs. Jones! Love, Joyce. - Posted by: Joyce Copp (Acquaintance ) on: Feb 05, 2023
