EVELYN FRANCIS EPPS
January 12, 1923 - January 30, 2023

We are sad to announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre after a brief illness. Family gathered to celebrate her 100th birthday a few weeks before on January 12. She was able to enjoy the visit and well wishes of all.
Born in Hepburn, Saskatchewan, she moved to Selkirk with her family in 1954. With husband Rodger they ran Epps Dry Cleaners for 21 years. She was always a working mother and held positions as seamstress, home care worker, and ceramics teacher. She volunteered in her church and became president of the Selkirk General Hospital auxiliary.
In the last century she witnessed the dust bowl, the great depression, the visit of a king and a queen, the Second World War, the inventions of the computer and the internet. She was well known for her roast beef and Yorkshire pudding when family gathered around her table. A basketball and bowling champion. An artist and quilter. Her extended family were her passion and source of pride.
She was predeceased by husband Rodger, sons-in-law, Brian Eastman and Lorne Heshka, and great-grandson Massimo Arquilla. She is survived by children, Joan Heshka, Janice (Wesely) Pearson, Jacquelyn Eastman, John (Lynne) Epps, Jennifer (Kevin) Little, and Jodi (Marie) Epps. She will be missed by 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family is grateful to the staff of the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre and the Selkirk Regional Health Centre for the superb care they provided. Medical and palliative care staff in Selkirk made sure her stay with them was comfortable and accommodated her many visitors.
A celebration of Evelyn's life is planned for the summer.
Memorial donations may be made to the Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
